FreeRepublic Saddle Club thread! - Thread 12

Posted on 08/07/2007 7:33:14 AM PDT by HairOfTheDog

The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - (very out of date) Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share, usually about our horses, sometimes about our dogs, gardens and other stuff we do. :~)

I have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will ping everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends.

Fair enough... hopefully he’ll keep the shoes on till the farrier comes.

I guess talk about the movement issues with the farrier, since he was so good at first with this guy... see if there’s something that has developed that isn’t working now as well as it was.

I think the fact that his shoes are loose, I’ve heard him clicking more then before, and he has an interference mark, shows, that my “he doesn’t feel right” is not just my imagination. It may not be that the shoeing was different, it may be that the ground has changed from all the mud, to hard, but something is different.

Indy doesn’t get beer very often so I guess he still thinks it’s a treat. He’ll settle for Arizona Tea or even a bottle of water but he makes it clear he doesn’t appreciate it as much.

Hey there Duchess, I owe you a post for Chocolate Zucchini Cake. I see that you already made bread, but if your zucchini patch is anything like the one I have, you have plenty more to play with!

Chocolate Zucchini Cake:

1/2 C. butter/marg. softened.
1/2 C. oil
1 3/4 C. sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 cup buttermilk
2 1/2 C flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
4 Tbs. coca
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
2 C. grated zucchini
1 C choc. chips
1/2 C. nuts.

Combine butter, oil and sugar. Add eggs and beat well. Add vanilla and buttermilk. Add sifted dry ingredients to creamed mixture. Stir in zucchini. Pour in greased and floured 9X13 pan and sprinkle with chips and nuts. Bake at 325 for 45 minutes.

Thanks for continuing to ping me. I have a big project on hand again but lurk as often as I can. All is well here in the Hill Country of Texas. “My horses ain’t hungry..” as the old song goes. We have rain and grass, grass, grass.

Again thanks.

Hi everyone!

The horse arrived yesterday. He is sure a sweety. My son-in-law said he didn't want to trailer but they got him on board and unloaded. Haven't taken any pictures yet but will post them when I do.

We're going to let him get settled in really well. My daughter and her husband start lessons Thursday night.

I took Sarah to my moms this weekend. She had a Mountain Dew. My moms dog drank it.

How's Sarah - and your mom?

I remember when Mountain Dew first came out - had the hillbilly guy on the bottle. I used to drink it whenever I had an urge for a soft drink.

Good to see you here, I've missed you :)

‘Mornin y’all! I’m posting from home this morning on my new satellite internet. I had to stay home from work yesterday so they could install it so that’s why I wasn’t around. So far I like it and it sure is a heck of a lot faster than my old dial-up. The previous page with all those pictures loaded in less than 5 seconds so I thought that was pretty good. I dialed up on my old computer right next to it and tried the same page and it took a minute or so for all the pictures to finish. Dial-up sucks! I haven’t tried uploading any pictures yet so we’ll see how that goes later.

Becky, you really need to check into getting it. Mine is through DISH. They really had a good deal going on the installation but it ended on the 11th. I’ll letcha know if they offer it again.

Well, gotta go get ready for work. Talk to y’all later...

I”m jealous:)

I’ve been after Mack for some time now, well actually since he got it down at the building:), that I want it here at the house. It’s just not one of those top priority things tho:\

Y’all have DSL down at your building don’t you? That’s through the phone line isn’t it? I couldn’t get that at my house, or cable either. I could dial in to the computer at work and then get out on the internet that way if I really needed to, but it was barely worth the trouble. Now I can surf along with the best of ‘em. The only thing is, I’ve been so used to being behind the firewall and all the security measures that they have on the server at work that I’m kinda like a baby on a busy street. I’m really going to have to be more careful and beef up our security stuff on the computer at home coz I sure don’t want to get any viruses or get hacked.

LOL!!! Yeah, I remember that too, and it said "Kickapoo joy juice" on the bottle too, whateverthehell that meant. I guess it's not PC anymore. Us Hillbillys might find that offensive! ;o)

He really did well, I think. He had to stick his nose on everyone's head to smell their hair, and that made my daughter a little nervous, she hasn't ridden since 5th grade. She talked to her cousin who reassured her that he's just really affectionate and likes attention. (I told her he was just being friendly and a little nervous in a new place.)

He comes to the fence when we drive by. He had gotten into prickly pear and had a couple of needles from that stuck around his hooves and he had no problem with me around his feet pulling them out.

I'm not going to the lesson because I'll be the babysitter for their children, I'm sure. :-)

Anyone want to start a grandparent thread? LOL
