This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share, usually about our horses, sometimes about our dogs, gardens and other stuff we do. :~)
I have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will ping everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!
Heck it looks to me like you’ve got a hurricane coming.
Look how the trees have changed there? We are still all green here. The morning was really cool, in the 50’s, but it’s pretty warm right now. Perfect fall weather...hope it holds.
Becky
It’s a nasty looking low, that’s for sure. They’re predicting 60 mph winds on the Oregon coasts, something less than that and “gusty” here. The actual eye of that is headed for Canada somewhere, not here. Not this time :~)
So far it’s still. And still no rain. I’d be happy but reality doesn’t seem to be matching the picture. It’s this disparity that’s bothering me.
I hope your weather holds too. Yep, we’re in fall color time :~)
No, neither one of us has ever hauled a horse that far. We plan on stopping several times, but not necessarily unloading, just offering water and hay and letting them stand in the trailer for a while without it moving.
Yeah, that is what I would do.
Becky
"Do you know what a disparity is?" ;~)
~sigh~ Yeah mom! ;~)
They're both getting healthier looking. ~sigh~ and bigger. I wish I could catch them.
I screwed up frog...I almost did catch them the other night, I had them both eating in the crate but they bolted when I tried to close the door. Made them a little skittish about me again. But they're coming back around.
My ex-husband was stationed at Ft Hood and my son lived with him there. He really loved the area.
I can understand how you feel I think. When my mare was put down, the passion for horses and riding left. I still love all my horses and enjoy watching them grow. I just don’t have the “it’s a gorgeous day to take Lady out for a bit” and now, standing and grooming is okay but a job I guess. I don’t stand out for hours with a brush and comb just ‘cause we both enjoy it so much. She left a hell of a hole that no one has filled yet, although I look at each new foal crop wondering if one of them will be the one.
Many years ago I towed a car cross country, including through TX, with the trunk full of Coors. Didn't know until I got to Alabama that it was illegal. Probably part of the reason my ex is my ex :)
I can’t get over the fact it’s hot there. It is cold here and fixing to get colder. There is something wrong with this picture :)
They are both beautiful. Give them time, they may come around yet.
How long ago was your mare put down?
Hair those kittens are adorable! :-) I won’t be on at all today I don’t think. The cable guys are here to run cat 5 and coaxial cable for the Internet and TV. It’s supposed to take 8 hours. ?!
Way cooler today. Mid 50's. Back to the dentist this morning. Fun day.
My friend, Judy and I went to Colorado some years ago to visit some Appaloosa farms. Coors was not available in this area then and we just had to bring back a trunk of "Colorado Kool-Aid"
She was put down in 2003 - Lord, it seems like a million years ago now.
Growing up in California I never even thought about beer not being available in other places :) When I left to move to Alabama (military) towing the husband’s car (he was already there), he said fill the trunk of the Midget with Coors. I already had the trunk of my car full of house plants and the interior full of 5 year old, Maine Coon cat and mother-in-law. It was interesting, to say the least.
