This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share, usually about our horses, sometimes about our dogs, gardens and other stuff we do. :~)
I have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will ping everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!
Heck, I can’t roll my eyes, I haven’t done much more then you.
Becky
Ah - well I understand that. Glad things are OK.
Do any of you know what kind of saddle would be similar to a western saddle except without the horn? A friend of ours years ago had saddles like this and they were really comfortable.
Becky
A lot of endurance people ride saddles like the picture Becky posted also. They are very comfortable. Go to http://www.horse.com which is Country Supply and you’ll see quite a few pictures of saddles.
The lady wanting to buy is rather hefty and doesn't ride much. Janelle showed her BamBam but she liked Dusty best. Now hoping they don't want to buy her, the lady sounds a bit too heavy for her, plus Dusty has a rather perverted sense of humor.
That’s it exactly! Thanks!
Good morning:)
I’m up trying to beat the heat. Hoping to be on the horse in the next 30 minutes:), waiting for coffee to kick in, the horse to finish his breakfast...
Becky
Well, if she doesn’t ride much, then it shouldn’t be that much of a problem.

Welcome to the thread Tuscaloosa Goldfinch!
Alison had a real nice Birthday party, at her other Grandparents. We had a fire, roasted hot dogs and a good time. She is going to Niagara Falls for a few days. My friend Judy was there and we made plans to go to a casino in Erie, Pa today. Wish me luck!
Have a good ride! It has cooled down to the low 80’s here.
Well my gauge is reading about 69 right now, but the forecast says 101 high today. It’s always somewhat cooler out here in the country, but it still gets hot enough, that if you’re not out by 8-9 it’s just too hot.
Harley is saddled, so I’m out of here, good luck at the casino:), and have fun.
My brother is coming to town this evening to eat and visit, his last day home is tomorrow, so I’ll run to town later to get the building cleaned up and meet him.

I'm so glad to see you back! The place just wasn't the same without you. I sure hated to hear about Tuffy, but I understand that some things are just too painful to talk about, at least when they're still fresh, and sometimes you just need some time.
I'm really glad to hear that you've decided to keep Mina. I don't think you'll regret it. She's just about the most gorgeous little horse I've ever seen and she sounds like she's going to be smart as a whip. I think you'll have a blast when you really get to working with her. Maybe when we all get together this fall, and if you can make it, you can bring her and let us see her in person.
The new highlines look like they're in just the right spot, and that planter full of impatiens looks great. I love those!
Hey there Tuscaloosa! It’s nice to see another Alabamian on the thread! So far, BladeRider and I have been holding down the fort in that regard. I live up near Moulton and she lives down around Blountsville.
It is Queen.
Hey that’s great about getting the cousin’s horse. He got a great home and y’all got a great horse. You just can’t beat that.
Well, it looks like my shoeing problems with Harley are slowly returning. I know you all are tired of hearing about it, shoot, I am. I’m just so frustrated.
Both his front shoes are loose, we are at the 4 1/2 week point with this shoeing. I didn’t say anything, because I was hoping it was my imagination, but he wasn’t right from the beginning of this shoeing cycle. But I don’t know what to say other then he didn’t feel right, and he was clicking more then he was the other times this guy shod him. I’d almost say it felt as if he was landing toe first instead of heel first. But when I’m on the ground watching, I can’t tell.
And then there is also the fact that other then the first cycle, he has lost at least one shoe before the cycle was over. He has shod him 4 times and 1 time he lost 1 shoe at the 5 weeks point, the next time 3 shoes at the 5 week point (there was a lot of mud at that time) and this time we are less then 5 weeks.
What do you all think?
Becky
I understand about getting an early start. BladeRider and I met at one of the local horse camps at 8 yesterday morning and got in a really good ride by shortly after noon. We hosed the horses down when we got back to camp, then loaded everything up but I was still able to get back to the barn by 2. It’s tolerable when you do that. But the humidity has been a lot less the last couple of days too so that helped. I got some decent pictures and videos of our ride. They’re uploading now so I’ll post them here in a bit.
