Well Jack’s accent keeps changing (on purpose, of course) In the scene, he is speaking in an Irish accent. I like the dried apple bit. I might steal it.
Elizabeth and Hope...
Kari and Faith...
Ellie and Hope standing tied while we were visiting...
Some of the other folks that wouldn't fit on our side of the creek...
He must be on the run from the law, like my 7xg grandfather in the male line, who left Scotland one jump ahead of the High Sheriff and changed his name from MacGregor to my maiden name. The MacGregor name was actually outlawed in Scotland, so he may have changed it there. They were the semi-official Mafia of Scotland. They were really that bad.
Heh. My first riding instructor’s name was Jack, too.
Great pictures! I’m thinking now we may not make it up on the trails again. It just POURED last night and I think that from now on, we’ll have mud. And unlike you, we’re wimps :~)
Fall has arrived hard. Going to HOPE it warms up enough with sunbreaks today so I can clean Bay up (he’s a thing of mud) and put his blanket on. His nice clean blanket is NOT going on him as is.
So are you going to have him pull Bay's shoes the next time? I'm going to have them pulled off of all of mine come November because if my track record of the last several years holds true, I never do much riding from Thanksgiving on through December anyways. But come January it's Katy bar the door and everybody gets shod again. We do some of our best riding between January and March while the leaves are off. There's a few places that you can only see your way to get there during that time when the leaves are off. "The Narrows", with the huge cliff shelter, is one of them. I always look forward to going back there...
I want to take BladeRider and Elizabeth there and let them see it for themselves. It's just awesome. And if we get a ticket for riding someplace we're not supposed to be it'll still have been worth it.
Yeah - we just never got the hang of this summer, and I have some regrets about not making a point of going, especially if, God forbid, something happens and Bay can’t go next year. I don’t predict that, but we can’t always predict these things.
On the other hand, it’s a relief to just declare summer over so I can focus on getting prepared to have a winter we are ready for no matter what. I’ve got winter/preparedness/emergency planning on my mind.
I don’t know on Bay’s shoes what we’ll do. There are differences in him with them on. He plays more, which makes me think he must be more comfortable and carefree with them on. He didn’t limp barefoot, but he didn’t prance around either.
Also the farrier thinks he’s making better ‘progress’ on Bay’s distortion with them on. He thought Bay’s foot shape might have taken a step back barefoot.
But it depends on the bungus. If it gets bad again, I’ll pull them for a cycle.
I would like to see that cave when I come, so I guess I’ll have to come in January!
Goose:
Whirl:
Those are good pictures! Flattering shots for both of them!
Thanks! They were the best two of a LOT of pictures. Goose poses fairly well, but Miss Whirl does NOT like having to stand for a picture. The only way I could get her to perk up and look half way interested was to crinkle a peppermint wrapper in my other hand. :-D
I came this > < close to hosing down the rest of him, he's so filthy, but compassion prevailed, it's pretty chilly out. At least he has a clean tail and clean feet.
I set up feral cat quarters out in the barn, to see if they'll set up residence in there if I start feeding them out there. It's at least dry for em', and out of the wind for winter. They may be sleeping under the house now, which is OK too, but we'll see. I do see them wander into the barn at night.
I always try to keep the original boxes for electronics like TVs and monitors. It's a pain, but when you move, it's nice to have the original boxes with the fitted styrofoam to move them in. Giant hassle to keep a huge box around for 6 years just to make moving day easier, but so far I have. It's up on top of the tool cabinet in the barn. Anyhow, I decided the cats can use it. I turned it on it's side and then stuck my little dogloo in it with soft bedding inside.
The hay is stored behind there and I think they can learn to climb up there on the hay... and might feel safe well out of the reach of the dogs.
I'm going to start putting food up there and see if they find it.
Great pictures, the rock wall in the last one is really pretty.
There sure are a lot of people who ride in your area. I don’t know if that many people show up at the parks around here to ride or not...I usually just go during the week when no one is there when I go.
Becky
The kitties should like that box:)
Did you have any problems with drainage under the shed since you shoveled all that out?
Becky
Nice ride pictures, Frog.
Hair, you set up a regular kitty motel.
How have you been? Have you been showing?
Hi there,
Been doing a lot of lurking on the site recently. Work is crazy and that’s the only time I’m online.
Show season ended for us early this year. My trainer was diagnosed with stage 2 prostate cancer in July and had surgery in August. I wasn’t near ready to show Deuce on my own but since he’s been home we’ve gotten to know each other pretty well and will be ready for next year.
Thanks for asking. I click on the thread each day to catch up and then the phone at my desk rings and I get distracted. Damn job!!!
Not so far. Had some dripping from the downspout off the gutter at the far end... That made it a little wet in the far doorway. Turns out the pipe had holes in it! We've fixed it temporarily, with a big flexible drain pipe but need to work on that some more, prolly this weekend.
