Put an open box of baking soda in it.

So how cheap am I when Value Village seems too expensive?

I went out to Value Village in search of more throw pillows for the ‘couch’ in the trailer, and perhaps a couple comforters to have out there in addition to our big sleeping bag.

I did end up with some pillows, but they weren’t as cheap as I thought they were gonna be, the big ones were $7! I’d think I could get them new for that. I got a bunch of smaller ones that were $1.99. Nothing special comforters were $20. Huh. I didn’t get any, yet.

Also got hay in town... it was no cheaper.

Maybe try the Goodwill store for comforters.

Also, try charcoal in the 'frig.

Well, got the fence done around the trailer so the horses can be back out front.

It's not the best fence I've ever made, and it's not near what we're capable of doing, but for using almost entirely leftovers and recycled pieces, it's not too bad and will work. :~)

...It's not the best fence I've ever made...

Hey, as long as it serves it purpose, it's good enough, and it looks fine to me. You've got it hot-wired so they're not going to mess with it anyways.

I second the tips about the baking soda and charcoal. I'd definitely give it a try before abandoning the fridge. It'd be nice to have cold drinks out there.

I’ve been on vacation this week so that’s why I’ve been kinda scarce. We haven’t gone anywhere so far, just been doing work around the house. I got all the horses trimmed on Monday and Tuesday and Lee pressure washed the house. Then I went riding with Kari and the Old Farts yesterday. I didn’t get her message that they were going until almost time to go so I rode her little black mare Sassy, just so I wouldn’t make them late. It was fun and she did really well for me. She’s a really nice (not so) little mare! Then when I got back we painted the outside of the house. It looks SO much better! Today I’m going to try to wash and wax the truck and horse trailer.

Well, it’s not a dream vacation, but sometimes vacations just to get things done are really good!

We might give the baking soda a try, but I dunno... it was a pretty bad smell in there. We’ll be out there in winter, so cold drinks won’t be the issue as much as hot ones. What we need out there is a coffee pot. :~)

Looks like you are set up to weather out the storms. If the power goes out, at least you will be warm and be able to cook.

I started therapy on Monday and went yesterday and Friday. Lots of back muscle strengthening exercises. My insurance covers 6 visits and I think that should be all I need. A lot of the exercises, I can do at home.

It has rained for the last few days and the "getting the yard back together" has been on hold. The front porch needs put back on and I would love to make a walk out of pavers, being as there was never a side walk in the front.

Well hopefully the therapy will help and you’ll get back to feeling good again.

I’ll bet your yard is a mess with the rain on all those big piles of dirt. Nothing like a yard full of mud! Did they get the basement walls sealed so the water doesn’t get inside anymore?

It sure is a mess with all the rain. At least they leveled out those dirt piles. The back wont be seeded until spring. We will put a lot of horse manure on the dirt and try and break up the clay. Hopefully, this weekend we can get the front seeded.

I am not too fond of doing disciplined exercised, but if it helps, I will tolerate it. :)

Great job in the show! She really is competing with older girls. She’ll blow them out when she moves up.

Hope your therapy goes well and you get back in the saddle. Life’s too short.

Next time I do RED, I’ll wear a red shirt. Didn’t really plan ahead when I got dressed. Turquoise is my color, but a black horse does light up with RED accents! Everybody was all dressed up for the big ride that day. Best thing was we all came home with no injuries.

The two spotted mules were the cutest “item” of the day. She parked them beside Sassy at lunch and Sassy looked over (she couldn’t help but stare) and touched noses with the Mini-donkey. It was like she was saying, “What are you?!?!” A girl took a picture of “the look” and I gave her my email address to send it to me, but no luck yet. I imagine it was one of those “priceless” moments. My camera card messed up and I lost all my pics for the day except one of a rock!

Hair,
Camper looks good. Are you sure those tall trees can’t reach it, or does the wind always blow the other way?

Beth and I are riding in the AM. Hal is taking the ‘cuda to a car show. We are going back to the BEE trails Sunday. Wish us luck!

So sorry about your friend, Duchess. She must have been a great presence in alot of lives and her memory will continue to be.

My computer has been OFFLINE at work lately, so I’m behind. Sorry.

Thanks, she was one of a kind. I’m sorry your camera messed up, beautiful scenery and horses.

Tell Hal to have fun at the car show :)

Just had to let you all know. God sent me an answer to my prayers for Lori. By way of a friend who just sent this.

RESCUE AT RAINBOW BRIDGE

Unlike most days at Rainbow Bridge, this day dawned cold and gray, damp as a swamp and as dismal as could be imagined. All of the recent arrivals had no idea what to think, as they had never experienced a day like this before.

But the animals who had been waiting for their beloved people knew exactly what was going on and started to gather at the pathway leading to The Bridge to watch.

It wasn’t long before an elderly animal came into view, head hung low and tail dragging. The other animals, the ones who had been there for a while, knew what his story was right away, for they had seen this happen far too
often.

He approached slowly, obviously in great emotional pain, but with no sign of injury or illness. Unlike all of the other animals waiting at The Bridge, this animal had not been restored to youth and made healthy and vigorous again.

As he walked toward The Bridge, he watched all of the other animals watching him. He knew he was out of place here and the sooner he could cross over, the happier he would be. But, alas, as he approached The Bridge, his way
was barred by the appearance of an Angel who apologized, but told him that he would not be able to pass. Only those animals who were with their people could pass over the Rainbow Bridge.

With no place else to turn to, the elderly animal turned towards the fields before The Bridge and saw a group of other animals like himself, also elderly and infirm. They weren’t playing, but rather simply lying on the green
grass, forlornly staring out at the pathway leading to The Bridge. And so, he took his place among them, watching the pathway and waiting.

One of the newest arrivals at The Bridge didn’t understand what he had just witnessed and asked one of the animals that had been there for a while to explain it to him. “You see, that poor animal was a rescue. He was turned into rescue just as you see him now, an older animal with his fur graying and his eyes clouding. He never made it out of rescue and passed on with only the love of his rescuer to comfort him as he left his earthly existence.

Because he had no family to give his love to, he has no one to escort him across The Bridge.”

The first animal thought about this for a minute and then asked, “So what will happen now?” As he was about to receive his answer, the clouds suddenly parted and the gloom lifted. Approaching The Bridge could be seen a single person and among the older animals, a whole group was suddenly bathed in a golden light and they were all young and healthy again, just as they were in the prime of life.

“Watch, and see” said the second animal. A second group of
animals from those waiting came to the pathway and bowed low as the person neared. At each bowed head, the person offered a pat on the head or a scratch behind the ears. The newly restored animals fell into line and followed
him towards The Bridge. They all crossed The Bridge together.

“What happened?”

“That was a rescuer. The animals you saw bowing in respect were those who found new homes because of his work. They will cross when their new families arrive. Those you saw restored were those who never found homes. When a rescuer arrives, they are allowed to perform one final act of rescue. They are allowed to escort those poor animals that they couldn’t place on earth, across The Rainbow Bridge.”

“I think I like rescuers”, said the first animal.

“So does GOD”, was the reply.

Rainbow Bridge stories ALWAYS make me cry. It’s such a wonderfully comforting concept.

It is actually a little further than it looks in this pic.

And our most worrisome winds come from the right hand side of the picture. Actually, it's a little hard to tell from the pic above, but behind all those trees is a lot more woods than just that line of trees. Strong winds coming from straight behind them would have to have come through a lot of woods, and that takes a lot of the force out of the wind the trees at that edge would have to take. IOW, the trees at this edge would be the last to go, not the first to go. They'd be at a lot more risk from winds to the right or from behind the camera, because they're taking the full force of the wind from across an open area.

This pic shows it better... the little blue-green dot is where the camper is.

OK. I figured you knew what you were doing, but just couldn’t grasp it. The picture is great. We were talking at work and the best way to explain it to people around here is that it is a Washington state storm pit. A very different concept when you are used to running underground. Jimmy had that smell in the ‘fridge in his RV and he had to replace it. It meant something was wrong, but I forgot what. I’ll ask him.

Duchess,
Beautiful story. Gives a wonderful mental image.

Did that lady take the horse you were thinking of keeping? Your young ones are looking great. I guess Rocky is gone now. Freckles is finally getting gray around his flanks pretty good. It still won’t be enough to show in his pics to get on reg. papers before he’s 7 months old. He’s over 6 now. We went to the breeder’s and got the paper with his signature on it to mail off. We got to see his weanling crop. There were 15 or so standing with halters and lead ropes dangling in a lot. Not one of them would come close enough to let you touch them and all but one were smaller than Freckles. None were as slick and muscled up. He said he just didn’t have time to fool with them. There were a couple of grays and a red roan and bay roan. Rest sorrel. He said he would trade me 10 of them for my Buckskin, Sasha, I got from him. I told him I couldn’t even sell Freckles and would have to feed them. He said EXACTLY!

Well, last night it rained pretty darned hard here, and the trailer is dry as a bone inside, so... Cool! :~)

I’m sure those of you down in “run underground” areas think the idea of running into a small trailer is a little nutty ;~)

Hopefully, we don’t get one of those freak storms that makes you right. :~)
