I used to wonder why people would die from the heat until I moved to the Midwest.

I remember Michigan as being only occasionally bad. But there were days we'd play down in the basement because it was the only place cool enough.

I used to just put a battery-powered tape player on the dashboard and listen, but my husband complained about the sound quality. I’ve never been picky about sound.

That would be fun, be careful of the natives though.
Having ten out of twelve people voting you the hottest person of the year is kinda painful.

Hhhmmm

Year 1487 was a common year starting on Monday of the Julian calendar.

Events of 1487

* Richard Foxe becomes Bishop of Exeter.
* March - Archduke Sigismund of Austria, largely on the poor advice of his councillors, declares war on Venice and seizes silver mines in and around the Valsugana valley.
* May 24 - Lambert Simnel is crowned King “Edward VI of England” in Christchurch Cathedral, Dublin, Ireland. He claims to be Edward, Earl of Warwick and challenges Henry VII for the throne of England.
* June 16 - Battle of Stoke Field. The rebellion of pretender Lambert Simnel, led by John de la Pole, Earl of Lincoln, and Francis Lovell, 1st Viscount Lovell, is crushed by troops loyal to Henry VII.
* August - Bartolomeu Dias leaves Lisbon on his voyage to the Cape of Good Hope.
* September 9 - Hongzhi becomes emperor of China (Ming dynasty).
* Publication of the witch-hunter manual Malleus Maleficarum.
* Aztec emperor Auitzotl dedicates Great Temple Pyramid of Tenochtitlán with thousands of human sacrifices.
* Spanish take Málaga.
* Italian architects begin to build the Kremlin in Moscow.

That would work. If my radio did. Once in a while, if I hit a bump just right, it will give me some static for about 10 seconds.

Ugh. Okay...

Back in the 80s I bought a rather small pair of speakers from RS, about the size of a fist each, with a headphone plug at the other end, and that would play well out of a cassette player.

I had some of those! I took them to the office as my cubby was removed from everyone else’s. However, when I transferred to a different office, I had to take them home. And lost them in a break-in.
