We are still awaiting further details, but PWInsider.com is extremely saddened to report that former WWE and WCW World champion Chris Benoit and his wife, former WCW and ECW personality Nancy "Woman" Benoit were both found dead today in Atlanta, Georgia. Obviously this will be a huge developing story in the days to come but at this point, we'd like to express our deepest condolences to the Benoits' family, friends, and fans at this time.
A meeting is currently ongoing at WWE TV and it is expected that tonight's three hour Raw will now be dedicated to Benoit's memory.
6:09 Update: WWE.com issued the following statement this afternoon:
"WWE is sad to report that Chris Benoit and his family have been found dead in their home. Police are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the deaths. Tonight's Raw will be a tribute to Chris and his family."
How sad. My husband and I have been watching the tribute, and I found it very telling that none of the wrestlers have said anything close to “we’ll find who did this to you and your family.”

I expected that. I say give the family at least 24 hours, do not listen to rumor and innuendo and you attack me.

If this is a murder/suicide, it is a very sad thing. But until I see definitive proof, which will take days or weeks, it is immature and ignorant to spout off this crap as truth!

Not picking on you, just my opinion in that it still is quite early to speculate, as we don’t even have autopsy results on bodies that were found a mere 8 hours ago.

How sad - they just showed the end of the Wrestlemania show when Chris Benoit and Eddie Guerrero were standing in the ring together.
As far as I know, Benoit was never one to be suspected for that. Hell he was 5’11” and prolly weighed somewhere around 230-240lbs tops.
So sad. Prayers for the surviving family members.
It was. I’m impressed with how well they put this together considering the time they had to do it.
I can not believe that. It goes against the man’s basic character - which he let all the world see all the time. A man who’s that strong and solid doesn’t suddenly crack without anyone close to them having a clue.
On Raw just now Jim Ross reminded all that none of us can take the gift of our lives for granted.
I woke up in the early morning with the cold certainty that something very bad had just happened in the world.
On the upside: Eddie just got the absolute best clinic partner -... I can’t deal with this

Remember, for many of the top stars they have done DVDs and PPVS - bios and greatest matches. When something like this happens to one of their stars, they usually have some stuff they put together sometime in the past, with the benefit of time, as part of those DDVs or PPV specials.
No doubt they culled some stuff from the Chris Benoit DVD for tonight.
Wrestling insider Dave Meltzer, who runs the website wrestlingobserver.com and knew Benoit for 20 years, said he’s heard “a million rumours” about what happened in the Benoit house.
Benoit was supposed to appear at a wrestling show in Beaumont, TX, on Saturday, but didn’t appear, Meltzer said.
When he failed to appear at a pay-per-view event Sunday in Houston, Meltzer said, organizers covered by saying Benoit had to cancel because of “personal issues.”
Meanwhile, Metlzer said, WWE brass were frantically phoning Benoit at home to find out what was going on.
Finally, he said, they called the local police and asked them to check out his home.
“I’m shaken up,” Meltzer said. “Chris was as respected as any wrestler in the last 25 years. The younger wrestlers of today idolized him or looked up to him.”
