The Dragonflies' Lair ~ Thread XXXIX~ June ~ July~ August
Poets of The Dragonflies' Lair | June 19, 2007 | Soaring Feather

My Dragonfly and Me

If I could be a Dragon Fly
and wing my way through the sky
I would never be shy
just me and my Dragon Fly!

By moonlight we ride the wind
chase the comets tail for fun
by day we would hide from the sun
our fragile wings would come undone

On darkest nights we would use
fireflies as our guide
we would dip and we would glide
through the heavens open wide
and scatter diamonds in the night sky
my Dragon Fly and me...

And we would wing past our lovers
silent in the night...
to kiss their face in our flight
much to their surprise and delight
my Dragon Fly and me in sight...

Such a view do we share
away up here in the air
of breezes soft through our hair
my Dragon Fly and me a pair...

We all need rain, but I fully understand the need for sunshine too. The amount of rain in some place of your state is astounding. So much sadness for so many people.

I think we must be in the normal range of rainfall for my area.

Oh, Meg I meant to tell you the Clematis is in full bloom, must be 75 or so blooms on the vine. It’s an eggplant color, so deep and rich.

Hi NYA, thank you. How goes your day?? I hope your day is smooth going. As the calm seas you sailed on in some places in the world. ;)

It is so lovely here I am inspired to work outside in the garden - pruning the over grown shrubs and nonsense abounding out there. ;)

WJ graces the Lair with such beauty in his words. We are so fortunate to have him with us.

I’ve Been Known

Denise Duhamel

to spread it on thick to shoot off my mouth to get it off my chest
          to tell him where
          to get off
to stay put to face the music to cut a shine to go under to sell
          myself short to play
          myself down
to paint the town to fork over to shell out to shoot up to pull a
          fast one to go haywire
          to take a shine to
to be stuck on to glam it up to vamp it up to get her one better to
          eat a little higher
          on the hog
to win out to get away with to go to the spot to make a stake to
          make a stand to
stand for something to stand up for
to snow under to slip up to go for it to take a stab at it to try out
          to go places to play
          up to get back at
to size up to stand off to slop over to be solid with to lose my
          shirt to get myself off
to get myself off the hook

I've Been Known To
chase my own tail, fall flat on my face
to hide in shame then to concluded I am not a mistake
I just make mistakes.

I've stood at the door, not wanting to enter
sized up the place with my eyes
looking for a hidden corner to recede in
until my eyes are accustomed to the dim

One day I opened the door to whatever was inside
yes, today jumped out at me and took me by surprise
I fell to the floor, discovered I could get up
dust my self off, and give life another try,
but on life's terms -not mine.

That hugs are free and freely given
often received in guarded condition
because,
offering a hug cannot be misconstrued as being a fearful action!

Some days are just downright jumpy!

Others well, are just swimmingly happy

And somedays the entire gang shows up!

Finally somedays are just hairy
and an attitude adjustment is needed,

And definitely,more cowbell!

Today? Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. I was different for a lack of a better word and to put it mildly. There certainly is movement on their side. There was subtle evidence of it today. I am home now. We will see what tomorrow brings.

Glad to hear that you had a lovely day. You are correct in your comment about WJ.

Oh well, just in time for roasting Cornish Game hen with corn bread dressing, green beans, and one slice of Cheesecake left from last week.

Dear Brian,
You especially loved this blessing for our troops.
I post it now for you, Mr. Tonkin, Captian of the FReeper Canteen.
May your seas be ever calm
your days sunny and warm
may your passion never be calmed
your compassion ever increased,
may you sleep as a babe forever.
Thank You, dear FRiend, for being you.

All is well, thanks. Gorgeous day today, I worked myself silly pruning bushes and shrubs. My back gave out before my work was done, but there is always another day.

Well, I will tell you that was the tastiest little chicken I have had in a while. I cut a bulb of garlic and let it roast with the chicken. Yum, yum!
