His difficulty appears to be in obtaining finance. The US gov. shut him out.

Millions could gain access to cheap energy and pure water as a result. Ah, the problem has been described so eloquently.

Why wouldn’t Bill Gates just write this guy a check? He could double the funding and do more good than his foundations ever could. I’m suspicious of this - it sounds a bit too rosy.

This is exactly why government shouldn't fund energy research. They placed their imprimatur on tokamak and that's where all the money goes.
Energy device in funding limbo for two decades

"His difficulty appears to be in obtaining finance. The US gov. shut him out."His difficulty is a failure to produce results. That's what happens when your ideas are BS. The failure to produce results is strong evidence the ideas are BS and worth no more than what one wants to pay for a con job.

Okay, work on it from a different end - develop it as a propulsion system for NASA - a “fast” bus to Mars or the Moon.
It not like NASA doesn’t have have plenty of money..

I’m skeptical.
Willing perhaps to be convinced, but claiming “shutdown” and “ostracism” is a bit easy to do. Hard to prove (other than the results!) but easy to claim.
But, given the waste in tens of thousands of other more expensive projects, the results should be demonstrable if the concept really works.

You could also approach it from a weapon’s perspective if you figured out a way to open up a hole in the reaction chamber and create a directed energy “beam” or some such through the hole. THAT would be a mighty powerful weapon.... AND it would be extremely efficient.
I suspect close to a 1 to 1 ration of energy created to destructive power (focused and directed). You could literally vaporize a target with a millisecond energy burst.
