The Dragonflies' Lair ~ Thread XXXVII~May, June 2007
Soaring Feather/Poets of The Lair | May 7, 2007 | Soaring Feather

My Dragonfly and Me

If I could be a Dragon Fly
and wing my way through the sky
I would never be shy
just me and my Dragon Fly!

By moonlight we ride the wind
chase the comets tail for fun
by day we would hide from the sun
our fragile wings would come undone

On darkest nights we would use
fireflies as our guide
we would dip and we would glide
through the heavens open wide
and scatter diamonds in the night sky
my Dragon Fly and me...

And we would wing past our lovers
silent in the night...
to kiss their face in our flight
much to their surprise and delight
my Dragon Fly and me in sight...

Such a view do we share
away up here in the air
of breezes soft through our hair
my Dragon Fly and me a pair...

Apparently the weatherperson doesn’t know that it is Springtime. However, it also has been cool here as well. All from this is occurring because of the cows and there free flowing gases. 8^).

The gradation is nice. If you look at the original photo there is a turquoise painted post beside the figure. It looks like a natural color match. In fact, any more neutral background color would take the sharp edges off the figure.

But I can understand it's tricky to do. What if you just paste the figure onto a previously colored background?

I never talked much about my brief India visit, it wasn't much to write home about.

Here is a post on another thread where we were talking about India. I also posted posts 11, and 20, if any Lairites would like to pop over and check out some of my experiences in India.

Okay, well I will give it another try, I am using the color selector which picks out color from the photo, (I mean after I cut the statue out) there is a hint of turquoise in the pic.

I will give your suggestion a try. ;)

I like the gradation, I think it gives the statue a bit of mystery.

Is that for the same reason that babies smile?

Yup, babies usually are happy little tykes, if all their creature comforts are tended to properly. Full belly, dry clothes, and lots of hugs.

Yes, India was quite the nasty dump. You saw that other poster had dreams of motorcycling with his son through the Himalayas. No doubt dreaming of these peaceful, smiling people. NOT!

It's funny you can think up all these ideas of what far away places might be like, and maybe they're nothing like that. Personally, I'm not blazing anymore trails to unknown parts, myself. Of course the places I'm familiar with already afford a lot of exploration.

I'm most into introspection these days, just working to achieve the most out of the way place I can put together!

I'm finally getting paid at this place, but the Chinese have these never ending political tricks they obsess over. Most are stupid, actually. You just ignore them. I should be ready to buy a little laptop in the next month or two, then I can write some poetry again. I miss writing some pieces, but you can't really compose in these Internet cafes.

Though I will say the cafes in this small town are much more hospitable and relaxing than they are in many other cities. Still, not places for composition, that's for sure!

I will be very glad to have you writing again. Your walking tour pictures are always so much fun. Even though we don’t have a lot of posters in the Lair, we do have plenty of lurkers. I am sure they enjoy the photos and comments you make.

Question, how does one handle the water situation in India? Is there bottled water available -seems there would have to be other wise a lot of sickness. It takes a while to get yourself settled in, your hotel looks to be a very nice place to stay.

A writer does have to have a quite place to draw from the inner resources, I find the little distraction will throw me off my muse. I am fickle I guess. ;)

Question, how does one handle the water situation in India?

You have to buy bottled water. At the home I rented for a short while, the landlady said you couldn't drink the well water. (there was a well in the back yard, and you had to run a pump to pump water up to a black plastic tank that held shower water, at least the black plastic allowed the water to heat up in the sun, otherwise, coming out of the deep earth, it was like 60 degrees, brrr, cold shower!)

Then there was also a city wide plastic tube the sometimes had water coming out of it, and sometimes didn't. I'm sure other states in India didn't have even that. That water you could drink, as it was treated. But it was not often available, so buying plastic bottles of water were the best bet if you wanted to cook, drink coffee or tea, or something like that.

Yes, I've noticed the Lair has loads of Lurkers. Usually, if there are 1000 posts, there are about 4000 views. Implying that for every post that's made, three silent Lurkers will read it! That's a lot of Lurker attention. It must be the dazzling content which our hostess attracts to her Lair!

Yawwwn, well it's only 8:30pm here, but I'm feeling sleepy (have to ride my bike back home, but I really, really enjoy the bike, adds to the peaceful motif going on down here).

So I'll talk to you all later,

Cheers,

LOL, or could be the other way around! :)

I don't think I could handle the water thing at all! We have the best water system going IMHO. Even when I lived in rural areas we had private wells which were a good and abundant water supply.
I can't imagine a woman trying to do laundry for a family under those sparse water conditions. I suppose it is all what one gets accustomed to. I sure could not deal with it.

I'm in Southern Taiwan, and now I'm pretty settled in. I'll post some pictures from here before too long.

Did you see my other "Walking Tour" pictures? Soaring has them all collected together in one convenient location.

What post was that Soaring? The one with the walking tours and silver?

Wonderful a house filled with laughter!

I don’t know if my granddaughters are coming. Some are away at college.

My kids will come sometime today probably early afternoon, gives them a chance with their little families. ;)
