The Sox and Yankees are resuming their long standing rivalry with and a mix of old and new faces. The Sox have upgraded their team with additions of JD Drew, Julio Lugo and Dice-K. The Yankees return with changes to the starting rotation and the subtraction of Gary Sheffield. Both teams figure to compete deep into the season.
For two states without much to brag about with respect to their elected officials,
Chucky and Hidabeast vs the Flip Flopping Gigalo and the Swimmer
or
The Spitter vs Coupe Deval
Here's to another season of Yankees vs Red Sox on FR!
Jinx Jinx Jinx Jinx Jinx Jinx...
LOL! My husband is about to go upstairs to watch the game... he can’t stand me anymore... ;-D
20 pitches that last inning. He’s got maybe 2 innings left in him. Then again, with that lame hitting line up going for the Sox he might get 3 innings in. Theo made a major mistake in not updrading his bench with some quality bats.
Chink! fading already, the longer they keep him in the better.
Patience my fellow Jedi. ;-D
I couldn't agree more. Theo must've been drunk the day he signed JD Blew for $70 million.
Damn, JD Blew actually got a hit, Youkilis walked then Varitek blows it. Yet another missed opportunity...
I think the Yanks will put in Viscaino (sic) to replace Clemens... hubby says he’s been doing better lately...
The thing that is giving me heart burn tonight is the sighting of disgusting liberals invading Yankee Stadium. John Sterling is drooling over these low life wipes.
Tek couldn’t take that pitch. It was one of the few good ones Roger threw all night.
This offseason I hope the Sox go after Tory Hunter. That way they can flip Crisp for something of better value. He’s not getting any better at the plate but center fielders with good speed and good defense are worth a power hitting 1B. As much as I like Lowell he won’t be back next year. The Drew trade might wind up costing the Sox some major salary subsidy but they don’t have much choice as I can see.
No kidding. Watching that whino Alec Baldwin is hard.
Keep the faith, remember Churchill's famous words
"We will never surrender."
Going to watch from bed, Nite!
Turn the lights out.....A-Rod has left the park.
My, Youk just nailed a HR and Tek took the walk of Farnsworth. Old Kyle was very lucky that the Ump is calling strikes off the plate or Drew might have had a better shot.
I can’t stand Drew but when an ump is going to give a pitcher an extra few inches that changes the dynamic of the entire AB. We saw that last night with Chamberlain getting calls on Hinske and Drew that were not strikes.
"We will never surrender."
Well, I'm afraid we have to, tonight, anyway. Red Sox lose... again. Now we're down to SIX games ahead of the Yanks.
If I were to bet on tomorrow's game, I would bet the Yankees are going to win. I think Schilling is about as "done" as Mussina. And we just don't have the bats, especially with Manny out. It's going to be disgusting to see all the brooms in the Bronx tomorrow.
Sorry to be such a downer. G'nite...
Oh yeah... and Joba Chamberlain will be back tomorrow as setup man...
He’s beatable though as long as the ump isn’t sporting him an extra 5-6 inches. Sit on his fastball early on in the count and you can hit him. He will also walk people. 21 year old guys can get rattled but damn, he’s impressive.
BWA HA HA!!!!
All I heard all day long from Red Sucks fans was about how wait till tonight with their young ace Josh Beckett going against the over the hill Roger Clemens, talking like it’s going to be a slaughter. Well Clemens pitched a 2 hitter through six innings while Beckett got spanked for 13 hits. Of course Sox fans will use the excuse that Manny wasn’t in the game.
GO YANKEES!!! RED SOX SUCK!!!
Who’s in first place?
Who got their assess whipped in recent games with 18 runs given up one week then 16 the next?
Who took the first 2 months of the season off then had to go out and pay $1 million a start to a 45 year old guy who is good one game then lousy the next?
Which team should be in first by 6 games but isn’t due their collection of present and past all-star talent not playing to their capabilities?
The Yankees have more talent than the Red Sox do yet find themselves having to win over 70% of their games just to make the playoffs.
Point to the standings all you want. The Yankees don’t need to finish in 1st place in the division to make the playoffs. As long as they make the wild card, they have just as good a shot at winning the World Series as the Sox do.
This $1 million per game, 45 year old pitcher just whipped the Sox ass. And the precious Josh Beckett who Sox fans talk about like he’s the second coming gave up 13 hits. Yeah sure, the Sox will probably win the division. But I know Boston fans are scared of the prospect of facing the Yankees in the playoffs.
Enjoy the view from the top now Sox fans, it’s gonna hit hard come October.
And where was he last week in Anaheim? Or Detroit? Or how about the game in Chicago when the pathetic White Sox lit his ass up? Roger pitches a game where he walks 5 guys and you want to talk about a great performance? (Hint, Roger wasn’t anything great last night but the Sox offense was even lamer)
I love how Yankee fans want to talk trash when you can look up major disappointment in the dictionary and see the Yankees. Your team should have run away with it this year and they didn’t. They allowed a team like the Sox with sub-par or average offensive talent in most of the line up to be in 1st place all year. They are paying $30 million a year to starting pitchers who are either in the minors, tanking it or too old to get AAA hitters out. They are paying a known cheater $19 million to platoon with Andy Phillips.
If your team makes the playoffs you should consider yourself very, very lucky.
