All is well.
I was spiraling fast for a while there after “you-know-who” did “you-know-what” to me...but not long afterwards, I got a call from a temp agency. They had read my resume on Monster.com and said they were impressed and wanted to place me in a big company; it’s a big Philip Morris cigarette plant and they had an opening in one of their offices. I went in for an interview, filled out a ton of paperwork—and then waited.
I spent an anxiety-ridden week waiting and calling and waiting and being put off and waiting...until I got an e-mail informing me that I didn’t get the job. The spiraling fast started again...
But then a few days later, I got another call on my cell phone. Apparently, a new position was opening in the exact same department, and this one was even BETTER (longer 1-year assignment, easier work), and they had specifically asked for me because they were impressed with my resume.
It took another two weeks of agonizing waiting and calling and waiting some more...but finally, *finally*, I got that magic phone call; I had been accepted for the position!
It’s great. I work in my own cubicle, on a computer, with solid hours (8-4, M-F with no overtime) for $11/hour. The temp job lasts until April 1, 2008, but there may well be plenty of opportunities for permanent hiring. Today I just completed my second week with the company, and life couldn’t be better!
Barb will not be here this weekend. She didn’t mention what exactly was going on, but she’ll be too busy to get on-line all the way until next week.
Hey Dolly!
I’m here! Been very busy!
Happy Friday!!! Woo Hoo!!!
