The revised recall includes cat food brands from Nutro, Publix, Americas Choice, Pet Pride, Winn Dixie and more.
What was that FDA? Were done with the recalls? We cant wait to hear what you have to say at the Senate hearing.
Menu Foods voluntarily recalls additional pet food made with ChemNutra wheat gluten
TORONTO, April 10 /PRNewswire/ - Prompted by reports from the US Food and Drug Administration as to the presence of melamine in cans of cuts and gravy pet food produced in Menu Foods Canadian production facility, Menu Foods undertook an accounting of all recalled wheat gluten supplied by ChemNutra Inc. to Menu Foods in the United States. As the result of that review, Menu Foods has identified a single interplant transfer of the ChemNutra supplied wheat gluten, shipped from Menu Foods plant in Emporia, Kansas, to its plant in Streetsville, Ontario. This wheat gluten was subsequently used in the production of pet food in December, 2006 and January, 2007, which is being recalled by Menu Foods.

Just released:
“As a result of new information received from Menu Foods late yesterday, Royal Canin Canada is recalling Medi-Cal Feline Dissolution Formula canned diet because one production lot (January 08 2009) contains contaminated wheat gluten. This product is produced for Royal Canin Canada by the Menu Foods Ontario plant. Medi-Cal Feline Dissolution Formula canned diet is Royal Canins only wheat gluten-containing canned product. This is the only Royal Canin or Medi-Cal product being recalled.”

The ASPCA® (The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals®) today issued an urgent alert to pet parents that if they have not already done so, it is imperative for them to discontinue use of the recalled foods immediately.
More than three weeks into the pet food recall, recent intakes at the ASPCAs Bergh Memorial Animal Hospital (BMAH) in New York City show that some pet parents have unwittingly continued to feed their pets the contaminated, recalled foods. Just last night, we admitted a cat into our Intensive Care Unit (ICU) that is in severe renal failure, and has been consuming one of the recalled product codes all this while, said Dr. Louise Murray, director of medicine at BMAH.
This is obviously a matter of great concern to us, continued Dr. Murray. It is possible that this scenario is being replicated across the country, due to confusion over which brands and product codes are included in the recallespecially with the recent recall expansionand, as a result, many more animals may be in great danger.
Dr Steven Hansen, a board-certified toxicologist and senior vice president with the ASPCA, who manages the ASPCAs Animal Poison Control Center (APCC), located in its Midwest Office in Urbana, Ill., agrees. It is extremely important for pet parents to stay abreast of the foods that have been recalled, especially since, while the investigation is still ongoing, there may be new developments every day.

Can we move this to Front Page News?
I agree...
I wonder when we’re going to find out how much of this stuff has found its way into the human food supply?
Plausible deniability by all companies and agencies involved......
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Yep,,,at this point,,,I would say all 4000 tons + is
contaminated and part? is in the human food supply...
Records maybe destroyed already...
Perp/Perpett gone to China...
I find it breathtaking how there is a revelation almost daily.
However we still don’t know the following,
- How do we treat the stricken animals?
- What -exactly- is the cause?
- How much of this stuff is still on store shelves?
- Will more dry food be recalled?
- How much of the additive is sitting in factories and warehouses?
- Has it entered the HUMAN FOOD CHAIN?
Of course they will!
I got my samples from Nature’s Logic. So far it’s a hit with my kittys! I have 3 flavors to try both dry and canned. I wanted to ask you—they don’t fortify with vitamins in their food because they believe it is balanced correctly for their diet. Should I worry about this? Especially since I think vitamins saved my sick kitty.
How long has this been goin’ on ?
A year ? Has there been an upsurge in kidney? problems in people ?
What about K-9’s used by Law Enforcement and the Military ?
Very sad to see this now in cat foods. Thank God for Avo-Derm is all I can say. This is a very high level of negligence at the best, not terribly surprising unfortunately. People should take care for their animals food in the same manner they do for themselves — and fortunately most do.
Unfortunately I believe only protracted legal action may achieve anything close to a full accounting.
Maybe the Senate hearing on Thursday will clear it all up?
Not!
Do not know what to believe anymore.
We’ve always fed Nutro dry... It’s supposed to be a good food, but I don’t have a lot of confidence in any of them any more.
It is getting to the point that we may end up being told to prepare our own animal companions pet foods if this gets any worse.
I’m afraid to say that should include human food also.
Paranoid? Three weeks plus and we don’t know squat.
Maybe the Senate hearing on Thursday will clear it all up?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
That means it’s been nearly a year with the time factor,,,
It’s gunna be all about records or lack of them now,,,
The IRS should be all over this/records for tax purposes,,,
The Senate has the power to send the US Marshals after them..
It is so unreal and upsetting.
Thank you for correcting my error.
