I think she was a POOR, uneducated girl who wanted attention and approval...and when she got it, it shocked her, and she became ‘intoxicated’ by the power it gave her. I believe she never anticipated or expected to have power of her own at all. At best, she hoped to have power bc she married someone powerful. Having power herself SCARED or CONFUSED her, IMO!! I think she was a ‘follower’, not a leader, despite what others say. If she were a leader, she would have been able to handle things differently, and wouldn’t have let HKS, KE, and others take so much control.
I think that her marriage to j. Howard Marshall, just proves how insecure she was. Like I said, IMO, she wanted a MAN to TAKE CARE OF HER, and control her to a certain degree. She knew she could ‘control’ an older man (through her ‘sexual power’) and THAT was COMFORTABLE for her. She didn’t want to be in charge of a FORTUNE, that is for sure! She wanted a MAN to provide for her and LAVISH her with EVERYTHING she could ever want, but she DAMN SURE didn’t want to have to ‘be an accountant’ or deal with money at all!! The only way she wanted to ‘deal’ with money, was to ‘spend’ it whenever and wherever she wanted! So, like we’ve talked about before here, HKS became a NECESSARY EVIL bc he was ‘more than willing’ to ‘take over the finances’ and that was a concern for Anna since she could not do it herself. Also, she obviously didn’t trust her family regarding her finances, and she probably didn’t know who else she could turn to. JMO, of course..
