Fresh mysteries in deaths of Anna Nicole and Daniel Smith spark public anger
By Jeffrey Jolson

HOLLYWOOD, CA (Hollywood Today) 4/5/07 – Anger and a renewed sense of injustice in the Anna Nicole Smith saga echoed on blogs and TV yesterday after a new disclosure that Howard K. Stern’s name was on eight of the 11 prescriptions that contributed to her death while a number of mysteries surrounding his actions on the night of her son’s death were highlighted from anticipated testimony from the inquest into his death.

Meanwhile, those waiting for the true father of Anna Nicole’s baby Dannielynn will have to wait until Tuesday when the paternity suit reconvenes as the doctor who conducted the DNA test in Ohio is to be flown in. It is considered a good sign for Larry Birkhead. “Why would the doctor make this trip to the Bahamas to simply say (Birkhead) is not the father?” asked Dr. Michael Hunter on CNN, and explained that if Birkhead was the father, testimony about the DNA procedures and findings would be essential.

Yet there were plenty of other bombshells bursting in the Anna Nicole case. And not all about Stern. Broward County, FL medical examiner Dr. Joshua Perper, who still makes some observers shriek by insisting there was “no foul play,” revealed there were 11 prescriptions in the hotel room when she died and not only were eight in Stern’s name, but all 11 were from the same psychiatrist, Dr. Khristine Eroshevich. Furthermore, some 600 pills were missing from the bottles, though they were dated less than five weeks earlier.

He did not seem to think the fact that many of the prescriptions, including the ultimately fatal choral hydrate, were in Stern’s name was of any consequence because of her um, acting career. “I was really not shocked because my understanding is that actresses do not want to appear that they have any disease. They have to be perfect, so I can understand this kind of subterfuge,” he told Showbiz.

Like many doctors he was protective of the profession and reluctant to even point a finger at Eroshevich. “A medical examiner does not get into quality of care. Before I criticize another physician I need to know on what basis she made her decision. Sometimes a physician prescribes a number of medications. Whether that was correct prescription in this case is another question.”

Medical boards are likely to have a different attitude and it might even be a good time for Dr. Eroshevich, as the saying goes, to “lawyer up.” Not that this case needs any more, though we understand Debra Opri is available. Birkhead let her go and she sent the photographer a $620,000 bill that included money for her personal publicist, a $2,500 dinner and 18 limo trips.

Another mystery about the medication is the 600 missing pills, which Perper also did not think indicated foul play because – get this – there was no confession. “We didn’t see those hundreds of pills in her body. Sometimes when there a lot of pills at the scene of a death, people take away pills. We can’t make a determination unless someone confesses or there is other evidence pointing to that.”
And yet none of this evidence, or court testimony that Stern was feeding her drugs from a duffel bag full of pills, seemed to motivate the Seminole police chief Charlie Tiger who said “This is an accidental overdose with no criminal elements present.”

In light of his failure to reveal this when he reported his finding on March 25, another inconsistency is seen in new light. Perper also in his very first press conference after her death that there was no needle marks. He said later that there was a large abscess on her buttocks from a dirty needle injection – hard to miss even if a small puncture could have been overlooked earlier. Furthermore, she reportedly had developed scar tissue from injecting herself so many times in her thighs.

Records show Smith had three prescriptions for muscle relaxants in her hotel room: two for carisoprodol, prescribed Jan. 2 and Jan. 26, and one for methocarbamol, under the brand name Robaxin, prescribed Jan. 2. Some 415 of the carisoprodol pills were missing from their containers as well as 33 of the Robaxin pills, according to the documents.

Also missing were 79 tablets of the anti-seizure medications Topomax and Klonopin; and at least two dozen diuretics, antibiotics, antivirals and potassium supplements.

Other whole bottles of medication may have been removed as well. The newly disclosed documents did not mention methadone or the anti-anxiety pill Ativan, both of which were found in Smith’s system. Also missing from the report was disclosure on who prescribed human growth hormone Smith was said to have been taking around the time of her death.

Further mysteries can be found in the cause of death inquest in son Daniel’s death, 45 minutes away from Florida in the Bahamas. That case is stalled too, as Stern’s lawyers try to debate the Coroner’s Law in the Bahamian Constitution that allows seven jurors to be appointed in an inquest without being examined for bias by Stern. Virgie’s attorney John O’Quinn said “Stern has figured out that he wins with delay. He wins if no decision is made.”

That’s not the mystery, though it is confounding the courts there should be discussing this in April when he died last September. What’s more baffling is Stern’s actions before the 20-year-old was found dead in his mother’s hospital room. Among the witnesses and reports to be examined in court is a report from one of the nurses at the nursing station that after Stern picked up Daniel at the airport at 10:30 at night, that he went out for food for everybody to a local mini-mart and came back without any food.

He went out a second time in the middle of the night, between 2:00 and 4:00 AM, and then came back just hours before Daniel died. “This is very strange,” said Tom Stern of In Touch Weekly. “The biggest mystery of all, are these alleged bruises on Daniel`s body. The initial police reports said there were no bruises on Daniel`s body. Now we are hearing that there may actually have been bruises under the arm. There may have been bruises on the hips and in the pelvis area, and that one doctor may testify in the inquest that these were not administered during the efforts to resuscitate him.”

Just trying to review what we know. The facts become less and less important as time goes by and the inquest appears quashed. But what I would like to know is how did Daniel get bruises all over his bones? I couldn’t find another article I read earlier that quotes directly the nurse who found him. She reported the bruises which the police report later denied. I tend to go with nursing reports since the license of the nurse is at stake if she misses anything.

How in the world is he allowed to stay in that house - EVEN if it were ANS home (which IMO it isn’t) he has no right to it.

"But what I would like to know is how did Daniel get bruises all over his bones?"

I agree. ANS also had bruises in these same areas I believe. The fact that HKS left both places (conveniently) and then someone is found dead should be a big concern for NORMAL law enforcement. HKS goes after food and comes back empty handed. OF course, he will say he went to eat the food by himself which could be provable by credit card receipts.

"“Through it all, even with all the pain, she has been a great mom, a very attentive mom,” he said."

Interesting! Yet Dr. E told Kapoor that Anna hadn't bonded to the baby. These people and their stories. You'd think they would get on the same page.

We know Danny wasn't dead between 2 & 4. It certainly would have been an opportunity for Howard to get "drugs" out of his car or to dump some. I always said that Howard dumped stuff on the way to the dock. It's not like bottle of meds would be noticeable if they were in your pocket.

When Howard says there is absolutely no evidence that he killed Anna or Danny, I'd say he was referring to Physical Evidence only. Lotsa kinds of evidence though.

“”” We overlooked his ‘Hollywood’ lifestyle, believing his Kentucky roots were solid and his affection for Granma Virgie was sincere. We believed he ‘loved’ Anna and cared for Daniel. We hoped he would create an environment for Dannielynn that would include his KY relatives. We assumed Opri was just an opportunistic media-hogging attorney, but who could protect Birkhead from Howard.

Boy, were we WRONG!””””

Great analysis of how most of us foolishly trusted Birkhead. I’m not so sure he wasn’t involved with HKS from the get-go. Hope I don’t get flamed for that one. ;)

Trying to get caught up again and having trouble with stinking keyboard.

Larry involved with Howard from the get go?? We really don't know but if Anna hired Larry as her photographer, it had to be via Howard.

As far as Dannie Lynn, I'm going with the early statement from Virgie's side that Larry was a sperm donor. There is probably some secret agreement that was drawn up that Larry could/would never reveal that he was the father. With the two deaths, it evolves into a mutual blackmail deal.

So then we had the two blackmailers both claiming to be the father. Neither can tell about the agreement and neither really wants the baby but there's a lot of "worth" to the baby so Larry and Howard agree to settle the agreement behind closed doors.

Pure logic says the only real person that should have the baby is Virgie which is why they BOTH had to knock her out of the ring. Virgie is THE ONLY ONE who is blood to Anna and Daniel and Dannie Lynn and SHE is the only one who has "care" credentials, having raised Daniel for his first 6 years. And she is the only one that has lost a daughter, grandson and granddaughter.

Where is Justice?

I wondered why Larry Brikhead kept associating with Howard Stern (the man apparently responsible for two deaths and a possible danger to Dannielynn) and knocking Virgie Arthur even though it made him look really stupid, nasty, greedy, and damaged his popularity and credibility.

What you say makes a lot of sense and fits with these facts. Good post.

ATDA Chief Collie-Pratt Moves To Cut Off King Eric From Regatta Committee
By Fred Sturrup
Sailing enthusiasts are saying it was too good to be true.
Reference is to the “great truce’ prevalent for about a year in the sloop sailing fraternity. Known for ongoing fussing and conflicts between certain prominent sailing personalities, the sport was enjoying a calm until just recently.

The Acklins Regatta was one of the major social/sporting features over the Emancipation Holiday period but controversy surfaced again. Once more the battle is on between Anita Collie-Pratt, who is president of the Acklins Trade and Development Association and King Eric Gibson who was appointed Chairman of the Acklins Regatta Committee and has been caught up in the past in conflicts with other sailing individuals as well.

At loggerheads a couple years ago over aspects of the Acklins Regatta celebrations, Collie-Pratt and Gibson cleared up their differences and worked very well together during the 2006 affair. However the fight is on once again.

In a letter dated August 8 (last Wednesday) Gibson expressed certain complaints about Collie-Pratt to Ms. Elma Garroway, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Education, Youth, Sports and Culture. He is up in arms about $5,000 of the $30,000 Government grant for the Acklins Regatta. Gibson claims the $5,000 was withheld by Collie-Pratt. He requested that Permanent secretary Garroway cause Collie-Pratt to release the funds.

Gibson also expressed concern about the absence of the proposed sailing camp for youngsters.

Collie-Pratt however insists that the problem stems from dissatisfaction with some of Gibson’s “methods” dealing with funding matters and the insistence of associating the name of the late model and personality Anna Nicole Smith with the Acklins Regatta. According to Collie-Pratt, the ATDA nor the people of Acklins were favourable to an association of any kind with Smith, who lived the last portion of her life as a resident of The Bahamas and brought much negative attention to The Bahamas.

Attorney Faces Contempt Of Court Battle
By Quincy Parker
In two weeks, high-profile lawyer Godfrey ‘Pro’ Pinder and his equally high profile client G. Ben Thompson will have to show the Bahamas Supreme Court why they shouldn’t be jailed for contempt of court.
Lawyers for the estate of the late American celebrity, Anna Nicole Smith, with whom Mr. Thompson had been embroiled in an increasingly bitter dispute over the ownership of the million-dollar Eastern Road estate called ‘Horizons,’ served Mr. Pinder about a month ago with notice that they intended to have him and Mr. Thompson jailed for contempt of court.

The action springs from Messrs. Pinder and Thompson breaking two separate injunctions issued by the Supreme Court last year regarding the Horizons residence – one barring Mr. Thompson and his agents from entering the premises, and the other barring anyone from taking any action at all with regard to the residence.

In one instance, Mr. Thompson’s ‘agents’ – his son-in-law Ford Shelley Jr. and others – entered the Horizons residence and removed items that belonged to Ms. Smith. In the other instance, Mr.Pinder filed a lawsuit attempting to have Mr. Stern evicted from the Horizons residence, even though the Supreme Court had issued an injunction that no further action be taken with regard to the house.

In the Supreme Court on Friday before Justice Cheryl Albury, Mr. Pinder asked the court to adjourn so that he could secure counsel to represent him in this action, and also for Mr. Thompson to find another lawyer to represent him.

Howard K. Stern, the executor of Ms. Smith’s estate, was present in the courtroom along with Kahlil D. Parker, who represented Ms. Smith’s estate and Mr. Pinder, who represented his absent client.

Mr. Thompson wasn’t there because, according to an affidavit read in court, “allegations and threats” had supposedly been made against him, and his legal counsel had advised him that it wasn’t in his interest to attend.

The Journal understands that while it may appear that nothing happened in court on Friday, the proceedings set the stage for the case to proceed with no further delays at its next meeting on August 28.

Mr. Pinder, however, dismissed the attempt to have him and his client jailed as “a smokescreen – an attempt to win the case without going to court.”

“When the court hears the matter, justice will prevail,” he said.

Mr. Pinder said he meant that he and Mr. Thompson would be vindicated in this matter, and that the case would proceed to be heard in court on the merits to determine who owns the Horizons residence.

Says Howard was there. My guess is that if he was, he is now being paid by Larry for all this stuff. Larry's Howard's patsy and he knows it.

You don't think Howard is REALLY working for nothing, do you? He never has and never will...He's an "under the table" and "all expenses paid" guy. It's called a "free ride" and/or another way of saying "crook".

The article.....

“King” Eric Gibson, chairman of the Acklins Regatta and Homecoming Committee, has been dismissed from his post by the president of the association for embarrassing the committee and the people of Acklins by turning their recent regatta into an Anna Nicole spectacle.

Mrs Anita Collie-Pratt, president of the Acklins Trade and Development Association, publicly announced King Eric’s dismissal from the Acklins Committee at a press conference yesterday. Mrs Collie-Pratt apologized to the people of Acklins and the country for the “ “Anna Nicole race” and assured the public that in no way did she, or the association benefit in any way from the event.

“The association, nor the people of Acklins had anything to do with the Anna Nicole race. At this time I wish the people of the Bahamas to know that we did not sanction the Anna Nicole race, nor did we benefit in any form or fashion from the C-class race held in Acklins. And on behalf of everyone we apologize to everyone for this race,” she said.
