Anna’s statement could be thrown out as coerced - that might be why Howard wanted to be the husband rather than the lawyer.
The committment ceremony however, did not cover his arse and if Anna refused to ‘marry’ him again - is when she called his bluff and her own death. IMHO
LB’s acting was limited to pretending to be HKS enemy.
B class in my book. I started out giving him every excuse but was one of those that early on was on to him. Took some great bashings for it.
If you really go back to the very beginning and watch his words closely.. there is nothing against Stern really that could hurt him. Even more void, it his true style of lashing out! His smirky smart ass remarks he continuously slips in for others he really hates.
With Stern, there is NOTHING even close to his real colors which are easy to identify in his statements and actions with Virgie and Anna. THAT is his true colors and Stern got none of this rage. His nasty name calling smirky smart alec runt ways are easy to spot but suddenly missing with hks. Very telling for me anyway.
Husband was excluded in the Will. She had to die BEFORE any marriage.. and she did. And excluded husband as executor .. much harder to obtain approval for than he wonderful personal atty named in that piece of crap Will.
However, if Anna’s statement in anyway indicts Howard, he can allways use the excuse “she was not of sound mind & body.
He may have thought of everything - he had a loooooooong time to plan.

I was trying to find the Larry King interview transcript where Birkhead describes Anna as suffering from Stockholm syndrome and HK$ as a Svengali (prompt by L.King)
So Birkhead thinks he is less vulnerable to manipulation by HK$ than the bossy Anna????

So HK$ started getting confused - he wanted to be a ‘husband’ against whom Anna could not testify in the matter of Daniel’s death...but he didn’t want to be excluded from the will!
The timing of Anna’s death is crucial to his plans that were quickly unraveling.
IMO, Perper and Wecht are of the same cloth.
It probably didn't take much to please them. They're family people. I think Anna probably felt deserted by January except for the Gibsons, Howard and KE and the battles were still on going.
KE would have become her confidant and probably told Howard that Anna was suspicious and having her appear at the inquest could be disastrous. Pre-meditated but impossible to prove unless one turns on the other and that ain't going to happen.
It would have to be negligent homicide. But Howard would say his old line "I'm not a doctor" and KE would say "He told me she was fine...just a little weak".
Why did Howard PLANT Taz right in Anna's bedroom? He wasn't in there 24/7.

What they issue is merely an opinion. At least it can be challenged in the future and Perper did say that if something popped up in Daniel’s case, it could be reopened.

Maybe they'll just disappear. Who knows but it was definitely a long term plan where everyone would be satisfied.
Let's just suppose that Howard AND KE embezzled $50 mil over a period of years and I don't think that's outrageous. Split that and it's plenty for everyone for the rest of their lives. Howard only needed Dannie Lynn as Anna's only living blood relative and nothing more.
How are KE, Larry and Howard paying for all these attorneys, etc.? Howard's not working. Larry's not working. KE's not working.
Wonder if Danny had an estate and life insurance? No one has ever brought that up.

IIRC Howard Marshall set up a trust fund for Daniel - have not heard anything further. I suppose Anna was an alternate trustee???? Were his assets inherited by Anna?
Are Daniel’s trust funds now in Anna’s estate?
Who knows? What about Billy Wayne Smith’s interests? Were they protected from HK$??????

Daniel had two legal parents.
Billy Wayne Smith should have had more legal standing in the affairs of a minor child, 20-year old Daniel, than Birkhead.
