Yupper, was there in the 50s when the cars raced through the town, was standing just a few feet away from the little boy who was killed as a car spun out of control. I was just a kid then. Went with my brother.
I have not been to the oval track no. Just the track through town.
The racing through towns is catching on. They started to do in San Jose with Formula 1 cars.
Going back to what they used to do. It's dangerous to do that. People will get killed.
All there was in place at the Glen that year were bales of straw as barriers.
I am not sure what they use here, maybe tires or hay bales. But it did cost San Jose a small fortune to smooth out the city streets.
Back when I went to that race they did not do very much to make things safe for spectators. Cost the town some bucks.
You said that you like jet planes?
Yup love to fly.
Are you a pilot?
Nope, pay my way as a passenger.
When I travel any Boeing aircraft is my first choice.
Yup I like those bigger jets.
First time I flew without a companion I wound up on a puddle jupper, thought the thing would fall apart. The flight was to Washington D.C., for a poetry convention. Thought I would croak before I got there, then the trip home was worse, it was so hot in August the pilot tried to cool the plane. They nearly cancelled the flight. OMG was I glad to get home. ;)
Boy you travel first class. Have you ever been in an open air cockpit? Natures air conditioning at its best. LOL.
LOL, well that's the way it is here. ROTFLOL.
No, I have not tried the open cockpit thingy yet, but one never knows.
When I flew to Finland we flew FINNAIR, now there is a plane. It was huge and packed with people. One could walk aroud the entire plane and I did-it was a long flight. I traveled with a group of folks.
I have not been on a FINNAIR aircraft. Used to fly American Airlines almost everywhere until I got spoiled by Singapore Airlines. What a difference.
Nice planes FINNAIR have. I just usually climb on what ever is going in my direction, works for me. ;)
I have been on Northwest Air a lot. Took that when I flew to Alaska. Went from the East to MN and then up to Alaska. Saw those glaciers our of the window, my gosh that is impressive.
Been on Northwest from Tokyo to Taiwan several times. Their 747's are usually packed like a can of sardines. Where you really are in tight quarters with other passengers.
Oh yes indeed, packed in something terrible. The flight home from Las Vegas last July was horrible. I did happen to have an aisle seat in the mid section. It was a 747 and all went pretty smooth. We left Vegas at midnight so got to the East coast hub in the morning. Then one more plane to my destination. Got home around noon. Dropped like a fly. LOL
Travelling does take its toll on the body, mind and whatever. I probably look like a character from the movie "Night of the Living Dead" when I arrive at the Hotel. A real mess.
