Scholz toured once per decade. People who needed the money begged him to tour more often. He's a self absorbed moron. And PETA donating vegetarian it seems. Google it!
The trivia portion stating that a bit of the song can be heard in "Close Encounters of the Third Kind" is interesting. I'll have to watch it again and listen more closely. I definitely remember it from "She's Having a Baby" (and little else, that movie was dull).
Boston - Hamilton, ON- 12-7-88 - "More Than A Feeling + Jam"
""More Than A Feeling"."
IRCC, Scholtz wrote that song around 67 or 68'.
At any rate this was interesting:
In any case, "More Than a Feeling" took writer Tom Scholz more than 7 years to write and in the List of Rolling Stone's 500 Greatest Songs of All Time, "More Than a Feeling" ranked #500. In addition, in March 2005, Q magazine placed it at number 76 in its list of the 100 Greatest Guitar Tracks.
The Book of Rock Lists suggests that the chorus riff may itself be a subtle homage to the Kingsmen's classic, "Louie Louie".
According to a poll conducted by British music magazine Q, "More Than A Feeling" is #2 of pop songs that respondents were too embarrassed to admit that they liked
"Prior to Brad Delp's death, it was widely known that there was new Boston album in the works, although no release date had been given by the band. Scholz in particular sounded enthusiastic about the new project commenting, "some of it sounds more like old Boston, some sounds more like later albums, all of it has me excited."
Very sad that they all made up just a bit too late.
"Yeah, I hear ya! I'm about to turn 43, God willing. I'm still freaked about how, a few years ago, my soundman, my best friend, died at 36 from a sudden brain aneurysm. Since then, I try my best to look at each and every day as a gift from God to live well."
Amen, I hear you. Lost my keyboard player/best friend to the same thing, age 33, several years back.

I'm pretty happy this is one of the CDs that was available on SACD.

I'm running on memory here. I think he wrote the song in the 60's and it took until 75' before it was produced into the version it is today.
Scholtz was/is a genius in the studio and invented the "Boston" effects used on the lead guitar--he created and built the electronics to obtain the sounds.
One other interesting note, The entire debut "Boston" album is 100% Tom Scholtz. He played every instrument on the album.
That was Manfred Mann doing a cover of a Springsteen tune.
The Rockman was not a guitar synthesizer. It was just a headphone guitar amp, similar to a sony Walkman, hence the name. And it was not operated by foot pedals.
He did have a set pipes. Man he could hit the notes.
R.I.P. Brad.
Sounds like your Susan missed out on a good man. Be glad for the memories though.
You are too kind. Thank you.
Lyrics for: Amanda
Babe, tomorrow's so far away
There's something I just have to say
I don't think I could hide
What I'm feeling inside
Another day
Knowin' I love you
And I - I'm getting too close again
I don't want to see it end
If I tell you tonight
Will you turn out the light
And walk away
Knowin' I love you?
Chorus:
I'm gonna take you by surprise
And make you realize
Amanda
I'm gonna tell you right away
I can't wait another day
Amanda
I'm gonna say it like a man
And make you understand
Amanda
I love you
And, I feel like today's the day
I'm lookin for the words to say
Do you wanna be free
Are you ready for me
To feel this way?
I don't wanna lose ya
So it may be too soon
I know
The feelin' takes so long to grow
If I tell you today
Will you turn me away
And let me go?
I don't wanna lose you
Repeat Chorus
You and I - I know that we can't wait
And I swear - I swear it's not a lie girl,
Tomorrow may be too late
You - you and I girl - we can share a life together
It's now or never
And tomorrow may be too late
And, feelin' the way I do
I don't wanna wait my whole life through
To say I'm in love with you
Losing a member of Boston or Rush (forbid), is like losing Elvis to me.
Lol. I found that somewhat strange. Heck if nothing else they could have played Johnny B Goode or Rock Around the Clock. The crowd didn't seem to mind though. .
RIP
My tribute to him will be to call the old friends I listened with back in the day.
I invite everybody here to do the same.
