Paellas is what I'm cooking for dinner tomorrow. I got one of Rachel Rays recipes and I am trying it out.
I almost passed out when I went to the grocers to pick up the saffron and saw the price. I did get $4.00 knocked off with the grocers discount scan card.
Needless to say I will not be using that spice too often.
Tee-hee. I gave up arroz con pollos years ago because of the price of saffron.
I live in So Cal, and there's all kinds of cellophane bagged spices, herbs, etc in all the grocery stores. I don't know if it's the real thing, but I've seen "saffron" for under a buck for a very small amount.
I've never bought it, so I don't know the quality or taste.
