Well I will say also that Opri was not emotional. I think if something serious happened to the baby Opri would have had a slight emotional tingle in her voice or her voice would have cracked.

It simply might be that Stern was told to take the baby in after what came out on Friday about her mother's blood poisoning. If something happens to that baby even the slighted bruise or bump that baby could be ripped from his arms in a heart beat. Stern is probably walking a fine line when it comes to that baby and he probably knows this. It might even have him slightly paranoid.

Seems like she and HKS would both have to get a work permit or something?
----

I believe that Anna had a 'no-work' visa - but I'm not even sure if HKS held any type of visa - i'll try and check for you but getting accurate information out of the bahamas is like pulling teeth on a bear.

---
Didn't ANS and HKS or the Bahamas refuse to let someone do the DNA test a while back because they didn't have the correct permits?
---

Birkhead's attorneys had a California court order with a Jan 23rd, 2007 deadline, ordering the DNA test of Danilynn; the court also ordered a drug test of both Anna and Danilynn. After a few back-and-forth emails between Anna and Birkhead, they arranged a date and Anna agreed to appear at a Bahamian location between 3:00pm and 6:00pm on Jan 23rd, 2007 to submit herself and the Baby to said court-ordered test.

"...In a sealed lawsuit filed in Los Angeles, Birkhead`s reps say they`re asking for drug testing on both mother and child. Birkhead also wants a paternity test..."

Ron Rale/Stern went into 'stall-mode' and questioned the legality of the test, saying Bahamian authorities needed to grant work permits before an American doctor could conduct the test.

Doctors were dispatched to the Bahamas to effect the court order but were refused entry into the Bahamas because they did not have work permits, so they couldn't perform the test, and of course, Anna was a no-show at the arranged location. Opri/Birkhead were already aware that Anna would probably be a no-show, because Anna fired off a last-minute email to Birkhead telling him to "f** off".

In the meantime, Stern was high-tailing it back to California on the Jan 23rd, where he appeared in a Calif Superior Court and argued that the test couldn't happen because the doctors didn't have work permits. So the judge delayed the court-ordered deadline of Jan 23rd, until the work permits could be obtained. When the doctors applied for those work permits they were refused.

And guess who controls work permits??? the Immigration Office...
and who was in charge of the Immigration Office? well, Shane Gibson of course

(he didn't resign until Feb 19th after photos of him and Anna were published in Bahamian papers on the 12th)

(IMO, it would have been so simple if not only Stern, but Anna and Baby , had shown up at that Los Angeles court to begin with, and said, ok, here we are, swab away....And the test could also have been accomplished mid-Jan when Anna attended that boxing match in Florida.)

Opri stated at the time, "...Anna needs to deal with the fact that the world does not circle around her. She has to obey court orders. She has to appear when she is ordered to. And she can hire attorneys until the day she dies. She has to follow the law. And I advise her to do so."

Bahamas Work Permits
Foreigners wanting to work or trade in the islands must obtain a work permit from the Immigration Department. In the case of an employee, the employer makes the application and must show that there is no suitable Bahamian candidate for the position. This includes advertising in newspapers; employers are also expected to have training programmes for Bahamians in the skills they are likely to need.

Work permits are usually issued for one year, renewable, although for senior executives it can be three years.

Normally an application will not be processed if the prospective employee is already in The Bahamas, having entered as a visitor.

Work permit fees range from $350 to $10,000 per year depending on the category.

Where work permits have been granted, each employer will be required to identify a suitable Bahamian to understudy the expatriate so that the Bahamian trainee will fill the expatriate’s position within a reasonable time frame.

Each permit issued by the Immigration Board relates to a specific post. Permits are not altered by the director of immigration to reflect change of employment or residence. However, a person holding a work permit may make application for a new one (his new employer having been unsuccessful in recruiting a qualified Bahamian to fill the post) without having to leave the islands.

The renewal of a permit on expiration is not automatic. Generally, no expatriate may be continually employed in the country in any capacity for more than five years. However, there are likely to be cases where hardship will be caused by rigid implementation of this policy; according to government, this factor will be kept in mind in applying the regulations

I recall seeing an interview like that (him being asked about the abscess) yesterday but on a different channel. It was a head shoot interview.

I have calm down over the UK story. But it is still up in the air if it is true or not. It may have not been a real emergency but Stern may have taken her there to have her checked out. If he hurt her intentionally he would probably be in custody and we would at least be hearing about that part of the story by now.

There was a report posted here (actually on the first thread) that HJS and ANS sedated her at night so she would not cry and wake them up. My fear for weeks now has been he is drugging her... and then I see these reports last night about a baby being given cocaine along with a litney of other infants found with drugs in their systems and it becomes aparent there is a lot of idiots out ther killing their infants with drugs.

"....I've kept repeating I need to see the entire video..."
--

maybe I can help here, Shelly states the timeframe of the tape as, "probably about an hour."

F. SHELLY: Well, it was almost like Howard was taping these so he could sell them, because he — on the tape, he made reference to — it was going to be worth some money. You know, the tapes show a time when my little girl was scared and she asked to call me and he didn't let her.

And Anna wasn't herself. Anna was acting like a child. She thought she'd already had the baby and my little girl was scared and Howard had to calm her down. And tell her, say, "Anna, you're scaring Reilly. You're scaring her. You're scaring her."

And she didn't understand. Anna didn't mean it. But, Howard is a grown man, and he's sitting there videotaping this and watching Anna. She needed help. She didn't need that.

VAN SUSTEREN: And your little girl said, "Howard."

GINA SHELLY, FRIEND OF ANNA NICOLE SMITH: "Please call the doctor, Howard. Let's call the doctor, Howard, please. Something's wrong with ‘Bunny.'" She called her "Bunny." And Howard's like — Reilly's like, "I'm going to call my dad." And Howard's like, "That phone doesn't work, honey, the one in the kitchen does." And when Reilly ran out to call, Howard tells Anna, "You're scaring Reilly. You're scaring Reilly, Anna. You really need to straighten up. You're scaring her." You know, so.

VAN SUSTEREN: But, what does the tape show? What does the tape show?

G. SHELLY: It shows them having a party and Reilly painted her face like a clown and they had face painting and they started playing baby dolls. And then Anna's believing that this baby is her baby. And Reilly's trying to say, "This is not your baby, Anna. Your baby's still in your tummy." And Anna is convinced that that baby is her baby.

VAN SUSTEREN: The doll?

G. SHELLY: The doll baby. And then Reilly keeps going up to Howard saying, you know, "Howard, tell her it's got a battery. Let's go get a screwdriver and take it out and show Anna this is not a real baby." So, I mean, this went on for probably about an hour. Until...

F. SHELLY: Well, that's all we know.
