It's been almost five weeks since Anna Nicole passed away, and the cause of death has yet to be announced.

Sources tell ET that investigators for the Bahamian Royal Police Force and the Bahamian police chief are at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Florida where ANNA NICOLE SMITH passed away. They have reportedly been there for two days and are working with the Seminole police department on the case. Keep checking back for the latest developments...

Tonight on ET, Anna's close friend tells ET's JANN CARL her thoughts on Anna's death -- and what the coroner is doing in the case!

One of the last to see Anna Nicole alive, DR. KHRIS EROSHEVICH just met with the Broward County medical examiner, DR. JOSHUA PERPER, to help him shape his final assessment. It has been almost five weeks since Anna Nicole passed away, and Eroshevich says she believes that Perper will announce the cause of death soon.

"I would think if it's clear, he would have said so by now," she says. "I have a feeling it's going to be debatable, mysterious."

When asked if she brought anything to the meeting, Eroshevich acknowledges that she did, but says she was asked by Dr. Perper not to discuss it.

"My impression is that he was trying to be very thorough, trying to do a good job, and that this is a mystery even for Dr. Perper, as it is for me as a friend and a doctor," says Eroshevich. "He's looking for some truth; I think it's going to be elusive. I don't know that there's a perfect answer.

"He wanted to know what kind of person she was, what her habits were; he's trying to reconstruct her as a person at the time of her death," she continues, saying that he's trying to deduce whether or not Anna could have, in any way, taken her life.

"That wasn't my first thought," Eroshevich says, offering her own opinion on Anna's death. "My first thought was something terrible happened; some accident occurred; she's sick. I was thinking of ordinary causes of death -- I didn't think of suicide. However, many people in her position in life, mainly with the loss of a son, then an onslaught of attacks legally, how much can any person take? I think she was questioning that.

"I'd like something sweet and simple; something to tell [baby] DANNIELYNN," she says about the true cause of death. "Something to let her feel that her mom didn't want to leave her; her mom wanted to be with her and couldn't help it. That would be the best."

As for Dannielynn's future, a judge gave a two-week continuance in court yesterday in LARRY BIRKHEAD's battle to obtain a sample of her DNA. Birkhead, Anna's alleged former boyfriend, is requesting that Anna's partner, HOWARD K. STERN -- whose name is on the birth certificate -- travel to California to determine the paternity of Anna Nicole's child.

The Bahamian courts’ interest in Howard K. Stern’s testimony at the March 26 inquest into the death of Daniel Wayne Smith has spiked in light of his mother Anna Nicole Smith’s sudden death, according to Chief Magistrate Roger Gomez.

If they moved the inquest up, are they now looking for Howard to perjure himself?

Will this be where Howard starts sobbing uncontrollably and says "Anna did it. It was an accident. She was afraid that they'd take the baby. I've been protecting her but now I have to tell the truth".

And then comes the: "Yes, I flushed everything down the toilet. What was I to do, give them to the police?Give them Anna? Let them take the baby? It was an accident."

Naw, that sounds like Perry Mason. This is Columbo. Witnesses will make the case, like a hospital nurse. Wonder if Daniel had a cell phone with a message thingie like my son has.

Aha! When the 2nd doctor was mentioned at the burial hearing and everyone thought they said "Christian" ... well, 2+2. Khristine.

Only thing is, TMZ claimed there was another L.A. doctor in addition to Kapoor and it is a male. Then there was another name thrown out somewhere that sounded like Nyquist, phonetic spelling.

Unfortunately, taken at face value, ANS talked about death, dying, wanting to die, suicide a lot. To a lot of people and to TV audiences.

Of course, the proverbial "they" always say if someone is talking about it, they're not going to do it. Wonder if Perper knows that.

Yeah, she remained friends until he died, but she was still a brat before that.

Of course then she decided she wanted another woman's husband and I had to turn the channel last night while watching her and her big ole pregnant belly and him in an interview while knowing he was married until she cheated with him and he left his wife AND KIDS.

She's a slimeball and I will never watch anything she is ever in.

KE seems to be keeping her distance from Howard in her interview. She doesn't mention anything about where Howard was or give any imput as to what medications she was receiving and/or who was giving them to her.

As to the don't leave thing. There's no WHY? to it so it means nothing. I'm always distraught when my friends go back to Florida after their trip to visit us in NY. And, yes..we always have a tear in our eyes.

"The Daniel Inquest" is the title of the next series on The Insider, which they will start Monday, with interviews with many of the witnesses and so on.

It's not the inquest itself until 3-26 (which is the newest date people have been saying, when it had been 3-27 for a long time). It's a series that will lead up to the inquest itself.

Wonder how much they paid HKS for *this one.* Shameful.

Yeah, I know that according to TMZ there is a male doctor. I wonder if it's a third or the info has become garbled? The NE guy seemed pretty sure about this being a female doctor.

Let me ask this, did you see the story above about KE NOW saying that she called FL on Weds night and was told that ANS had eaten? Looks to me like her story has changed about the timing of her phone call (omelet?) Was there anything about that on The Insider?

She was excited about the boat and as far as we know, it was scheduled to leave that night or the next morning and I assume they were to be onboard.

Wouldn't Anna and Howard have been packing things up on the day she died? When were they scheduled to leave? What does the reservation schedule say?

Daniel's Inquest date has been moved up to 3/19/07 per Rte66 - I believe it was set for 3/27/07 before.

What do you suppose the reason was for moving the date up?
