Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!
O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.
O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.
O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!
Good morning!
I hope it’s a good morning! What’s up with you?
Are the boys doing any work this summer, or just goofing off? My brothers are following the youngest brother’s schedule - he has a month of school in the middle of the summer, and a month or so off on either end - and I keep meaning to ask mom how that works compared to our old school year round method.
I was telling the boys yesterday that so far we’ve had a most outstanding break...I’ve had something planned almost every day. (Which explains the lack of HH chat from me.) We’ve fished, rode bikes, went on nature hikes, not to mention camping!
This week is calm, but next week is VBS at my friend’s church. Her husband is the pastor and is also Matthew’s Latin teacher. They’re Missouri Synod Lutheran. The boys have not missed VBS at their church ever. VBS at our new church down the street is the same weekend as my parents’ 50th anniversary party in Texas so they can’t go to it. I’m glad they won’t miss the Lutheran one...Matthew’s last.
I also pick up C’s kids and take them. That took a couple of years to convince her, but finally she agreed last year and her kids just loved it. This year took no convincing.
The last day of VBS next week is the day we go camping and the boys get to go with Steve’s Blue Thumb organization to do a fish collection. (Netting and counting fish to determine the health of a particular stream or creek). We’ll be gone all next weekend camping up near Bartlesville...one of my favorite Oklahoma towns. Matthew has gone a few times before on the collection, but this will be Joshua’s first time. They’ll also turn in the Junior Naturalist project and get a certificate from the State Park.
Lots more planned for this summer...I get the feeling this is perhaps my last summer with Matthew as a boy. I’m so proud of him, but it’s bittersweet. Corin’s Jr graduating really was a shock to me and made me see how time really flies.
Heh heh...I bet you didn’t expect such a dissertation. I typed all of that through eyes that aren’t in focus yet and in a room spinning over my right shoulder.
His “job” while he was at the booth was to keep the information tower stocked with pamphlets and booklets and to tell the kids that entered the booth about the motorcycle. The motorcycle belongs to the guy that played the voice of the sheriff in “Cars”. So he would introduce himself, then explain about the motorcycle and show them a picture of the guy.
After the first couple of times he spoke, I went and sat down and just observed.
Does it seem that long? Or does it seem like a long time ago? :~)
Here's a link to the : photo gallery. It's a blast from the past... :~)
Happy anniversary!! It snuck up on me!
Happy anniversary!
Kinda neat looking back through the pictures now that I’ve been to the beach house and know a few more of the folks that were there...and remembering what it was like for those of us watching from out in cyberspace. ;-)
The plane was such a cool touch!
We need to have you up to the beach house sometime this summer... see if Cisco likes big water.
Betcha he’d *love* that!
I don’t think he’s met much of anything that he *doesn’t* like. ;-)
Except baths.
Wow, congrats! It does seem like three years to me. Good years. All good years.
Wonderful! Happy Anniversary!
(coming up on 35 years)
(okay, okay, we've been married longer than some HH'ers have been alive)
~smiles~
Wow, what a great opportunity for Joshua to gain maturity in dealing with strangers, but in a safe environment. Good for him!
Thank you! :~)
Well, I think we’re about to get on with our Anniversary mowing :~)
Talk to you all later!
happy anniversary!
Happy Anniversary!
It’s been three years... seems like it went by pretty quick.
Congratulations! :-)
