Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!
O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.
O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.
O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!
As long as I am here.
Oops, double post
Nice snag anyway :-)
What Corin said...
Didj’all watch LOST yet?
Not yet! We’re going to watch it tonight.
Good morning....
I was just googling around ‘cause after all this time the name “John Locke” hit me. In part because of a question we discussed (in spoiler font) upthread about this issue.
But looking at “Lostpedia” I’m realizing there’s a whole lot more here that I haven’t figgered out. I think I need to watch the whole series over again before next season.
But the literary names have just dawned on me...Sawyer...Austen...Rousseau...
I am nothing if not slow to catch on.
Yep...it’s *me*, isn’t it?!
The best part is that I’ll be able to, you know, go places!
It’s pouring here. Thundering. I was vaguely aware of Steve getting up sometime to draw samples but not sure of the time.
Nice ride!
I personally don’t like PT Cruisers. But it’s so you. I’ll bet you can’t wait.
You’ll have lots of fun on that trip. The Riverwalk in S.A. was very nice. Are you taking the boys to the Alamo, I assume? Talon’s folks live a bit outside the city. You will have to give me an honest report of what Texas is like in the summer :-)
Like what? If there's a larger point, I'd love to know what it is :~)
Heh heh...I grew up south of Houston near the beach. It’s hot and humid. Really, though...I think Oklahoma is much hotter. I don’t recall too many 100+ temps in Texas and they’re not uncommon here.
My old van has no AC. Do you remember last summer when my friend had her sixth and I took her some food and couldn’t find her house? I seriously nearly died in the heat. Here she was, just had a baby and she had to help me into the house when I finally got there. Took me about half an hour to recover.
So when I say I’m going to enjoy going places...I also mean like to the store in the summer! LOL!!
All of this leads me to a question I’ve been meaning to put before the Hole...I’ll post it here in a sec.
Ok...here is the question I was alluding to a minute ago.
I need to know what to do with my old van.
It’s a 1996 Ford Aerostar.
It has 140 thousand miles on it.
It occassionally goes off to the left on it’s own. After it does that for a while (several months), progressively getting worse, it starts making a grinding noise and then I have to take it in and get the entire rack and pinion changed. It’s done that twice in the past. It has just started to pull to the left again.
It has an oil leak.
Remember when the wiring to the dome light got a short and the car wouldn’t shift out of first gear? That got fixed, however the wiring to the power ports (cigarette lighters) in the front and back no longer function.
The Check Engine light has been on for about 2 years.
The driver’s side seat belt doesn’t work. At all.
The AC doesn’t work.
The latch on the large sliding door is broken. We were able to get it to latch “one more time” and haven’t opened it since. (I have duct tape on the handle so no one will forget and open it.)
So, here’s the question...
How much should I sell it for?
ROFLOL!!!
Hmmm... I see!
Will it even pass state inspection? The seller has to provide a current(within 60 days)state inspection form here in Missouri.
If’n it won’t, might I suggest donating it to a local charity (Salvation Army, etc.) and taking the amount they are able to sell it for off your 2007 taxes. The charity is required to let you know how much it sells for, unlike previous years where the donor could declare it’s value.
I’d start at around $400.... that’s what we sold ecurbh’s car for, and it had fewer problems.
We don’t have state inspection here.
Isn’t that something?
I suggested donating it too and Steve agreed it might be the thing to do.
Maybe sell it as a parts car?
If we could get that much, we’d be pleased.
See what I mean?
I’m gonna have to Netflix them all over again...
