The Hobbit Hole XXXIII - And the brook that leaps from hill to plain...

Posted on 03/08/2007 2:40:27 PM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!

O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.

O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.

O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!

Great! I’m happy for ya!

I ran low/out of fuel once at the house. Being as how much luck is similar to yours, it happened on a weekend during a really cold spell. *sigh*

Luckily the fuel company (which I think has been bought out) was run by folks who lived just down the street, and they were able to help me out right off. They were always super helpful...really nice folks. When I sold the house, I wrote ‘em a letter to thank them for all they did for me as a customer.

Yah, I gots the time-lapse. I need to upload it again though, so it’ll be a little while before it’s available.

Wife has taken over the ordering of the fuel since we use her credit card for that. But two weeks ago it was 80 degrees here. Who would have thought we’d need/run out of oil?

Dang...there is some wacky stuff going on in that “Doctors and Faith” thread. I’m having a hard time believing some of those folks are for real.

Bothers have been seen off.

And I ended up taking a two hour lunch. Guess I’ll be here late tonight... maybe tomorrow too...

I’m doing some database maintenance type stuff and occasionally checking in on that thread. It’s somewhat astounding. Folks who believe medicine is the work of the devil and such. And that you can’t possibly get sick if you’re really a good Christian. Especially one poster, who claims not to ever get viruses, period, ‘cause he/she’s not as sinful as the rest of us.

Yeah, I was just looking at that... weird... guess when
I was eight and picked up a recurring eye-damaging virus from a grandparent it was a punishment for my wicked ways... sheesh.

I wonder what Tam did...he’s got almost the same thing.

Well...on further consideration, maybe in his case, it *does* kinda make sense...

Right, he’s just evil.

I wonder what causes genetic disabilities? Parents who are evil and wicked?

I had a girl I worked with tell me that I just needed to claim my hearing back and I’d get it back. I told her I was too busy praising God that the virus didn’t affect my cognition to be worrying about getting my hearing back!

I mean, seriously...I lost the hearing when I was in my final month of pregnancy with Joshua...the nerve between my brain and my ear was affected. Had it got to my brain, I might not have lived or I might’ve been in a vegetative state.

I still look at Joshua now and then and praise God I got the chance to know him.

Eesh.

We had people tell us our youngest brother’s down syndrome was because of some sin and if we had prayed right early enough it might have been cured.

Some people...

I haven’t seen this thread you speak of, but I’ll go check it out. :~) I resent the implication also, that illness is somehow punishment, when the most righteous person I’ve ever known was taken far before her time.

You know my friend Tiff told me once, on the trail ride where Bay fell down on trail, that maybe God was trying to get my attention. I said “If he wants my attention, I’d hope he has a better idea than to trip my horse”. I was so mad at her the whole way back, trying to seriously justify what was a really stupid comment.

You want a burning bush, a talking donkey, or a blinding flash of light? :-) I always figure I’d better try not to make God work too hard to get my attention, I might not like the method.

Yeah, no kidding. My mother was a far better person than I'll ever be...and I also have had friends who lost children to illness - leukemia. Is a two year old really to blame for getting sick? Give me a break...
