The Hobbit Hole XXXIII - And the brook that leaps from hill to plain...

Posted on 03/08/2007 2:40:27 PM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!

O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.

O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.

O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!

I just had to re-watch last week to catch up. Seems I was too drun... uh... too tire... uh... well, too finished to finish it before.

I’m a little confused by the arm bidness. And the Pres Palmer bidness. But then, I’m easily confused.

So there’s that.

I liked this episode... It had fun twists... ludicrous twists... but fun ones.... till the end. That chick can suck the fun out of any party :~)

And Doyle had the best line of the season so far, as he surveys the death and mayhem Jack left in his wake... “Damn, Jack!”

My subconscious must have been working on identifying that "inflatable something" just above the canteen in Algore's signature photo. And no, I don't think it's what g'nad speculated, although that can't be ruled out, either.

I kept pondering, "what else might be inflatable", then it hit me. I think what we're seeing is part of a GI air mattress. Al took his empty pack, stuffed the mattress in it, and inflated it enough (there was plenty of hot air available) to fill the pack, and make it look like it had something in it. Then he tied his sleeping bag on top with some string. He just didn't notice what was peeking out from the top of the pack.

At least, that's the only polite theory that I can come up with to explain what's visible. Al Gore was a 100% phony back then, and has just gotten phonier since.

That picture has always amused and disturbed me because there's so many things wrong with it in so many ways.

Sheesh, I hope it’s warming up there.

The pic link does not work. So you mean the John Kerry looking down his gun pic?

It’s Al Gore looking at his gun. That picture. Shows up here.

I liked the episode too.

“Damn, Jack...”

Made me chuckle.

You might be onto something there.

That photo has always looked entirely contrived. We all know he went to Vietnam with a typewriter instead of a rifle. He looks like he’s collected a bunch of his buddies’ gear and strapped it all on for a photo to send home.

Another clue: You shouldn’t have to adjust the strap on your own rifle.

That was one of the best lines 24 has had.

Gotta feel a little sorry for the guy, ya know? He looks away for two seconds, and Jack single-handedly has the bad guys all wrapped up. That’ll do a number on your self-esteem, especially if you’re an uppity little punk...

I wonder where they’re going with Doyle. I have to admit I like the character more now than at first... they’re clearly prepping the character for something.

Let’s MOOT!!

We’re going to be in the DFW area on the 9th between 12:30pm and 2:30 and on the 18th (maybe 19th) between 2:00pm and 5:00pm.

We’re going to be in Austin on the 10th and 11th.

We’re going to be in SA from the 12th to the 15th, but likely won’t be able to moot due to my parents 50th anniversary festivities.

We can call it “Choo choo Moot”. LOL!!

I wonder if they’re prepping him for a dramatic death scene, though.

Seems like that’s often the way 24 goes. We’re not allowed to actually like someone - if we do, they off ‘em. Chloe’s about the only exception, and therefore I worry about her a bit...

Hey there...

Matthew is learning about tides in science...do you still have that video online of the tides at your beach house? I’d like to show it to him.

Well, good news. Problem with the furnace was just a clogged line. Happens when we run out/get real low on fuel.

So, there’s that.
