As we settle into the nighttime of despair, fret not, for the Sun will rise again!!
Good morning!!
We, here, will never forget those who died on September 11, 2001, as we seek to protect the Republic from all who will do her harm!!
I have taken up reading Winston Churchill's most excellent work on the Second World War; I suspsect the effort of reading its breadth will consume much time over the course of many weeks and months to come. That's not the point--I am struck by a strange and dangerous parallel by what happened in the 1930s and what is transgressing today.
Churchill writes in the first volume, "The Gathering Storm", about the unease of the French with the German rearmament during the 1930s, yet its country's unwillingness to confront the danger. The excuse given by the French? The English don't want them to do anything. Such a statement was, in fact, quite true as debate after debate, vote after vote, in the English Parliament sought not the confrontation of that gathering storm, but rather to ignore the growing wind in the hopes that it would, quite simply, disappear. History, of course, records the tens of millions of lives that were expended in the storm; it didn't go away.
Today, there is a malevolence growing in the Middle-East, in the form of a radicalized Iran. Iran is already well known as the birthplace of modern terrorism, and is responsible for the holding of 53 Americans for 444 days as hostages--as a matter of State policy.
Indeed, Iran has stated on many recent occassions that Israel has no right to exist, and will, soon, be wiped off the map. Weapons of Iranian manufacture have been found within the boundaries of Iraq, in the hands of America's opponents. Iran has also called for the destruction of the United States.
The response of the American Congress? Placidity, to the effect of working to tie the President's hand. No metter what Iran does, they say, war will not be tollerated. Never mind, Iran, you can build your nuclear weaponry, your ICBMs, your army and navy needed to wipe the Jewish State, and us, off the map. The retort of Congressional supporters of such appeasement efforts? The full efforts of the United Nations, if only we would work in concert with that body, will ensure the safety of the region. Much like the French of the 1930s believed they should not handle the growing danger because the British would not appreciate it.
Indeed, the Congress is so infatuated with the idea, they went so far as to commit the treasonous act of actually undercutting the ability of the President to wage war against the Nation's enemies, while staging the hypocrasy of actually stating support for the instrumentality of that defense--but never let it be used, it might actually offend the international community.
The threat, however, continues to breed, just as it did seventy years ago. The threat sees the confusion and chaos in the entities which could actually get in the way of their designs. They see even the hypocracy of the American Jewish element, which on the one hand cries "Never again!" with respect to the Holocaust, but freely supports the Democratic Party which is bent on a course of succouring the enemies of the Jewish people.
The threat sees the European Union rent and confused, aligned in every which way on the problem except with one of focus and intent. The threat sees the United Nations as incapable and as impotent as its predecessor, the League of Nations, when confronted with a danger giving birth that could threaten the entire globe.
The entire globe? Yes. Let us not forget where Iran--"the threat"--is located. This will come as a shock to those who cannot even locate the United States on a globe, but Iran hovers over the single location of the globe where the United States gets around one-third of its oil. This is not to mention the oil that is provided as the life blood for Europe and for the far east--Japan. All America's allies--at least in peace; with the threat as it is, it is hard to say whom we can count on when the bubble goes up.
And most certainly the bubble will go up. No, Iraq is not the war, the war has yet to start. If that sounds frightening, it should. It should bear the same terror as the weapons the Iran seeks to obtain while the West sleeps until the dawn of the horror. Tens of milllions died in World War II. Millions of Britons, and millions of Frenchman, died; died even after spending years hoping the problem will simply go away if it were to be ignored.
Will it be millions of Americans that will die because we choose to sleep now?
Awake. It is not yet too late. But it may soon be.
For AMERICA - The Right Way, I remain yours in the Cause, the Chairman.
I swear the peanut (shell and all) is almost as big as he is. LOL
You're in my prayers always, sweetie!
That's an excellent point Peach. The kid was no match for an experienced FReeper, LOL!
A neck collar, eh? Hmmm..will have to give that some thought. Although I'm afraid I'd get teased around here once people found out that I didn't have something major like whiplash or something.
Lord, save us.
Good luck to you. I had a stress echocardiogram done in August, it wasn't bad at all. I will pray for you.
I just read that Bill CLinton might be angling for Hillary's! Senate job if she wins the presidency. Ick.
Our weather here in Utah has been quite interesting. It was 56 degrees on Saturday, in the upper 40s on Sunday, and this morning I awoke to 5"-6" of snow. Tomorrow and Wednesday it will be in the 50s, and then Thursday it will snow again.
Hi UG...........Weird weather you're having.
Ack! We don't want him..or her!
I meant to report that Sen. DeMint reported that he'd been to Iraq lots of times and there are chemical stockpiles all across the country.
If a doc can't help you, I'll bet a collar, even if just worn at home, could help relieve the pain. Hope it's better tomorrow but it usually takes a few days.
Chemical weapon stockpiles?? Or some other kind of chemical?
(heading off to the Land of Nod, hopefully, will read your response tomorrow)
My neck really hasn't been very good since New Years time. Think I need to have it attended to by a pro.
GOod grief! That's quite a roller coaster.:)
Senator DeMint said he'd been to Iraq many, many times and there are chemical stockpiles all across the country.
Now, that's not to say that they are WMD per se, but I'm sure could be easily assembled and made into WMD. If that makes sense.
Get thee to a doctor!
Freepmail for you my dear....
Makes sense. Sort of like those barrels of chemicals all over the place that we were told by the media were "pesticides". Ahem...!
A quick good morning~ Let the dogs out to potty & off they went after something.. will see them in a hour or so.. no telling how far they get into the national park & what else they chase, find, explore.
Nice day today & then winter & the white stuff returns tomorrow..
