AMERICA - The Right Way!! (Day 2217) [Remember the Trade Center!!]
Various News Sources and FReepers | February 16, 2007 | All of Us

Posted on 02/16/2007 5:33:38 AM PST by Chairman_December_19th_Society

As we settle into the nighttime of despair, fret not, for the Sun will rise again!!

Good morning!!

We, here, will never forget those who died on September 11, 2001, as we seek to protect the Republic from all who will do her harm!!

It's official.

Global warming has decided to shut itself in the closet because it is too cold outside.

While we're at it, let's talk about global warming a bit shall we? We'll call this segment Inconvenient Facts.

Global Warming Assertion Number 1 - The amount of carbon dioxide in the air is increasing and this, in turn, is warming the planet.

Inconvenient Fact 1 - Yes, carbon dioxide levels are increasing. They are up some 40 or so percent above levels many decades ago. With that, it seems someone remembered high school earth science and the greenhouse effect--carbon dioxide in the atmosphere heats the planet by trapping radiant heat, much as glass in a house does. True enough. But one important fact is missing in each and every discussion. The amount of trapping is not linear. Or at least it's not linear at the levels in the atmosphere, which must be measured in parts per billion. If that were true, we'd all be toast as ambient temperatures would be 40 percent higher than a century ago--instead of 290K, it would be running somewhere around 410K--and that is above the boiling point of water (373K). There's also another point left out--at what point does it matter? It is agreed there would be a level that would be a problem, but what is that level? No one seems to be able to tell us--probably because where not there.

Global Warming Assertion 2 - The increase in carbon dioxide, warming the planet, has led to an increase in ocean temperatures.

Inconvenient Fact 2 - Yes, the oceans are warming in a general trend over the last few decades. It isn't due, however, to carbon dioxide from above, there's simply not enough heat energy radiating on the planet to change the temperatures of the ocean that quickly--water is, essentially, a heat sink as it takes a tremendous amount of energy to actually heat it. No, the heat is coming from below. Increased volcanic activity along the mid-Atlantic ridge and in hot spots across the middle of the Pacific are heating the ocean from below (akin to boiling water on the stove). Vents with temperatures of 700K (for the scientifically uninclined, subtract about 270--273.15 actually--from the K value to achieve the C temperature) have been located in these places in increasing numbers the last couple of years. Now, gasses tend not to stay in solution when water heats up, and there is a significant amount of carbon dioxide available in the oceans as dissolved gas. When the water heats, out comes the carbon dioxide into, yep, the atmosphere, increasing the percentage of the gas in that location. So--how much is natural and how much is caused by mankind?

Global Warming Assertion 3 - The increased temperatures are melting the Arctic Ocean ice pack.

Inconvenient Fact 3 - Well, sort of. Along the northern Canadian coastline, yes, the ice is retreating and Arctic Ocean water is present. Scientists, however, have found volcanic activity along the ridge near the coast there (it's an extension of the mid-Atlantic ridge) in increasing levels over the last decade. There's that 700K water again. Of course the ice melts.

Global Warming Assertion 4 - There are less glaciers and the current glaciers are all retreating.

Inconvenient Fact 4 - There are not less glaciers, there are more. Fully 70% of the existing glaciers in the world are growing. The Antarctic ice pack is increasing in thickness, causing more calving of icebergs. See iceagenow.com for more on this.

Global warming Assertion 5 - Global warming is actually responsible for increased snowfall in the northeast and mid-Atlantic regions.

Inconvenient Fact 5 - Well, that's been beat up enough here. Even lake effect snows require cold air, the colder the more snow.

For AMERICA - The Right Way, I remain yours in the Cause, the Chairman.

I am profoundly "disappointed"...no, make that OUTRAGED...that one of those 12 Republican representatives in the House...is a North Carolina representative...Howard Coble...who is planning to vote w/the Democrats FOR the non-binding Resolution against the additional troops for Iraq.

I listened to him on a local radio interview this morning claiming that he had been in favor of deposing Hussein, but ever since 2005 he had stated that our troops should leave Iraq after that. He said he was not persuaded that sending more troops would solve the problem and cited Gen. Powell who shared his belief. (Bah and humbug)

My own "representative" is Mel Watt...so I KNOW how he will vote and I am not surprised since he is a Dem, but North Carolina does not need any more bad news from the likes of REPUBLICAN Coble since we already have the twin embarrassments of John Edwards and Mike Nifong.

I think mclame reached a "tipping point" years ago. I think the citizens of AZ should act, by removing him from the senate.

I'd mentioned sKerry in an earlier post. thank goodness, that sight was erased by the one of Johnson and his great speech.

Well Nancy announced the vote, and looked pleased. AAAARRGH!

Carolina, I'm sick with what the House did this afternoon. Treachery, malicious, dangerous treachery, and most of them are proud of what they did!

Wasn't Coble on the House Judiciary Committee under Hyde? He worked on the Impeachment hearings??

We're having an early supper then going to Friday night church service....then a movie here. Good day everyone. Friday has lost some of its usual sparkle for me today.

We need to make it our mission for the next 2 years to see to it that the 17 Republican cowards who voted to abandon their President and our troops are DEFEATED when they stand for reelection.

I think I like this picture of the "handsome hunk" even better than the sunset one.

Prayers continue to surround him as he "shoots people and breaks things".

It is anything they can do to the President, anything at all...One day, one day it is going to backfire on them.

Yes, he was, and before this, Coble was always considered a strong Republican representative for and from our state. I can't tell you how unexpected and unfavorable this action of his is considered around here. His action today is his opinion, not the representation of his constituents.

In the interview today he attributed the loss of Republican seats in the House solely to dissatisfaction w/the way the Iraqi war has been conducted.

To illustrate how UNinformed he is, in answer to the interviewer's question, Cobe said he wasn't familiar w/the Bank of America's offering credit cards to illegals. THe HEADQARTERS of the BofA is in Charlotte, NORTH CAROLINA for petes's sake!

Due to circumstances beyond MY control, our phone system quit in mid-freep last night. I was writing a very erudite and witty retort. Alas...

JT's name is not Wayne. His life verse is Joshua 1:9.

Mom tripped and fell 2 weeks ago and sprained her wrist and mildly separated the shoulder. Not an out-of-joint separation but the spacing was more than it should be.
