As we settle into the nighttime of despair, fret not, for the Sun will rise again!!
Good morning!!
We, here, will never forget those who died on September 11, 2001, as we seek to protect the Republic from all who will do her harm!!
It's official.
Global warming has decided to shut itself in the closet because it is too cold outside.
While we're at it, let's talk about global warming a bit shall we? We'll call this segment Inconvenient Facts.
Global Warming Assertion Number 1 - The amount of carbon dioxide in the air is increasing and this, in turn, is warming the planet.
Inconvenient Fact 1 - Yes, carbon dioxide levels are increasing. They are up some 40 or so percent above levels many decades ago. With that, it seems someone remembered high school earth science and the greenhouse effect--carbon dioxide in the atmosphere heats the planet by trapping radiant heat, much as glass in a house does. True enough. But one important fact is missing in each and every discussion. The amount of trapping is not linear. Or at least it's not linear at the levels in the atmosphere, which must be measured in parts per billion. If that were true, we'd all be toast as ambient temperatures would be 40 percent higher than a century ago--instead of 290K, it would be running somewhere around 410K--and that is above the boiling point of water (373K). There's also another point left out--at what point does it matter? It is agreed there would be a level that would be a problem, but what is that level? No one seems to be able to tell us--probably because where not there.
Global Warming Assertion 2 - The increase in carbon dioxide, warming the planet, has led to an increase in ocean temperatures.
Inconvenient Fact 2 - Yes, the oceans are warming in a general trend over the last few decades. It isn't due, however, to carbon dioxide from above, there's simply not enough heat energy radiating on the planet to change the temperatures of the ocean that quickly--water is, essentially, a heat sink as it takes a tremendous amount of energy to actually heat it. No, the heat is coming from below. Increased volcanic activity along the mid-Atlantic ridge and in hot spots across the middle of the Pacific are heating the ocean from below (akin to boiling water on the stove). Vents with temperatures of 700K (for the scientifically uninclined, subtract about 270--273.15 actually--from the K value to achieve the C temperature) have been located in these places in increasing numbers the last couple of years. Now, gasses tend not to stay in solution when water heats up, and there is a significant amount of carbon dioxide available in the oceans as dissolved gas. When the water heats, out comes the carbon dioxide into, yep, the atmosphere, increasing the percentage of the gas in that location. So--how much is natural and how much is caused by mankind?
Global Warming Assertion 3 - The increased temperatures are melting the Arctic Ocean ice pack.
Inconvenient Fact 3 - Well, sort of. Along the northern Canadian coastline, yes, the ice is retreating and Arctic Ocean water is present. Scientists, however, have found volcanic activity along the ridge near the coast there (it's an extension of the mid-Atlantic ridge) in increasing levels over the last decade. There's that 700K water again. Of course the ice melts.
Global Warming Assertion 4 - There are less glaciers and the current glaciers are all retreating.
Inconvenient Fact 4 - There are not less glaciers, there are more. Fully 70% of the existing glaciers in the world are growing. The Antarctic ice pack is increasing in thickness, causing more calving of icebergs. See iceagenow.com for more on this.
Global warming Assertion 5 - Global warming is actually responsible for increased snowfall in the northeast and mid-Atlantic regions.
Inconvenient Fact 5 - Well, that's been beat up enough here. Even lake effect snows require cold air, the colder the more snow.
For AMERICA - The Right Way, I remain yours in the Cause, the Chairman.
Toby, Gene Taylor of MS was one of the 2 Dems who voted against that traitorous resolution.
Of the 19 Republican Congressional traitors to our troops, NC, to our shame, had 2 of them....Howard Coble and Walter Jones. I am still fuming. It's the Senate's time today to "debate" the bill, and I believe that my 2 Republican senators...Dole and Burr...will stand tall.
Residual anger breaks down the brain circuits...I can't even get the number right...it was 17 (not 19).
I watched the Lehrer report last night on this vote, and Jones was a featured Rep...as were the other 11 Rs...NO time, NOT ONE SEC was given to Sam Johnson, his speech, and the reaction to it. It made me sick to see such a biased report, but I wasn't really surprised.
NM gov. Richardson said in New Hampshire yesterday that the bill did not go far enough in defunding the troops, and Vilesackof**** agreed w/him.
Synapses still not firing correctly. LOL
What's our excuse for later in the day???!!
Goodness! I think I get it...how'd you find it?
>>I think I get it...how'd you find it?
I get a bunch of emails each day with stuff like this
It certainly gives the picture to " How Time flies" LOL!
oh! So it just arrived in your inbox!
yep....I was cleaning the week's emails and came across it.
Juice of the grape?
That'll work for me Carolina. We're going to a Mardi Gras party!
You are gorgeous JT! I can imagine you beating the women off with a big stick :-)
LOL! He is kinda handsome. His GF/SH thinks so, too.
Hi Jemian tell him a lot of Mama's and Grandma's are placing a prayer shield around him.
Thanks for sharing I know how proud you must be.
