Woman says group beat her in store

She had gone to Target with her brother and sister-in-law to buy a DVD player for their new house, and had decided to go off on her own. She was looking over women's blouses when a young girl brushed past her. The girl angrily demanded an apology. The woman was taken aback and refused, according to her account, and tried to turn her attention back to the rack of clothes.

Sanchez said some store employees were present when the fight began and didn't try to intervene.

"They didn't do nothing, nothing whatsoever," Sanchez said. "The manager didn't respond when I told her about it. She said, 'We told our employees not to get involved so they won't get hurt.' "

Employees at the store declined to comment, though a spokesman for the franchise released a statement.

A bunch of customers and/or employees could have easily restrained these girls, yet not one person intervened? What is wrong with our society? Why do people completely abdicate any sense of duty or responsibility to their fellow human beings?

Baloney. Minimum wage clerks are not bouncers or security guards. Don't paid enough.

I guess human decency never factored into their decisions.

They are still human beings. Perhaps you wouldn't choose to help another person if you didn't get paid enough, however I would actually do it for free....

From the article:

Fielding said the victim bumped the girl with a box she was carrying, provoking the child to demand an apology.

Ya think she might be related to the little thuglet?

You shouldn't have to be paid to defend an innocent victim!

Since when does one need to be paid to help someone out?
Something like this happened here a couple of months ago. A lady rode her bike a little too close to the curb where the "girls" were standing, waiting for a bus. They attacked her. Thank goodness though that someone intervened. I'm pretty sure he didn't charge her any money, either.

What's wrong you ask? ... It's called a lawsuit. Imagine if just one of these little darlings had be actually injured as a result of the restraint!!! Horrors - we can't have vigilantes jumping in and beating up little Stephani when she wants to get her "game on".

So customers, clerks, etc., shouldn't intervene when it's female teenagers assaulting a third party with feet and fists?

I can appreciate people not wanting to rush unarmed into gunfire, but this is different.

This isn't about wages....it is about basic human decency. I could never stand by and watch someone getting beat up. There is no love for one another.....it is sick.

Welcome to the jungle
It gets worse here everyday
Ya learn ta live like an animal
In the jungle where we play
If you got a hunger for what you see
You'll take it eventually
You can have anything you want
But you better not take it from me

Don't feel too sorry for Sanchez, as a member of a designated victim group I'm sure her civil suit is being prepped as I write this. Plus the 10-year-old thugette's family will sue the police.

Both Target and the City will settle.

Another day in Free-Lunch-istan ... formerly known as these United States of America.

I would have helped too. It sounds like these girls went out looking for trouble. I might have gotten hit, but I would've done by best to kick some butt.

The manager did what he/she should have done, summon security whose job it is to handle situations like this. Not the employees and I don't condemn bystanders for not getting involved with four "bangers" whaling on someone either.

Call security ASAP, take notes, testify. Period.
