Anna Nicole Smith collapsed in her hotel room at the Hard Rock Cafe and Casino in Hollywood, Fla., and was rushed to a hospital on Thursday. A Hollywood, Fla., fire department spokesman told MSNBC TV that the actress was unresponsive when the rescue unit arrived on the scene.
Sources confirmed to Access Hollywood that Smith was transported to Memorial Regional Hospital shortly after 2 p.m. EST on Thursday. Access Hollywood also is reporting that Smith was intubated at the scene.
Officials told the Miami Herald, "it does not look good."
Right. That's what HKS said. Too expensive. I'd love to see the timeline though of when Daniel died, when they received the $750K for his final photos in the hospital and when Daniel was buried. It was 40 days after his death before they buried him. Maybe the money for those photos came in after that, I guess.
"Stern may have been raised in a good family "
The diffence between Anna's & Howie's family upbringing- Anna learned to become self-sufficient before self- destructive............. Howie learned to read before he became a bum.

Daniel Smith Buried
Daniel Wayne Smith, the 20-year-old son of former Playmate Anna Nicole Smith, was buried yesterday at Lakeview Cemetery, in what reports reveal was quite a tumultuous ceremony.
Anna Nicole and her lawyer, Howard K Stern, who claims to be the father of her newborn daughter, Dannie Lynn Hope, arrived at the cemetery shortly before 2:00pm in two private white limousines, with their own photographers.
A small crowd of onlookers watched from a distance as the gold-coloured coffin arrived. However, they were not allowed any closer as a horde of police officers, plain-clothed and uniformed, guarded the service. Bishop Neil Ellis conducted the funeral, attended by no more than 20 people.
From inside the green tent that blocked the service from onlookers, a woman, believed to be Anna Nicole, screamed: "I'm sorry, I'm sorry. I don't want my husband, I want my son back. Leave me alone! Leave me alone, don't touch me!"
During the service, a local photographer saw Anna Nicole leave the funeral tent, take baby Dannie Lynn out of the limousine, and carry her to the service inside the tent for a few moments before returning her to the vehicle.
According to the funeral booklet's obituary, Daniel had been a straight "A" student through most of his education, but had still to determine a career path. However, said the booklet, "his opportunities were limitless."
"He passed up a lucrative opportunity to act and to model," according to the booklet, "because he understood the intense scrutiny experienced by his mother. Instead he thought recently that he might want to be a rocket scientist.
"Daniel was a friend to all who met him. They loved everything about him. He was smart, humble, and had a great sense of humour and all of his friends knew that he could always be trusted."
The obituary said that Daniel was the driving force that sustained his mother through all of her trials and tribulations.
"He was the glue that held his mother together during her most difficult times. He would playfully call her 'woman', and then proceed to put any problem in its proper perspective. His mother's nickname for him was 'pumpkin head'. But in truth he was her pride and joy, and he was her reason for being."
This notion was further expanded in a very emotional tribute written by Anna Nicole herself to her son entitled "A Mother's Remembrance."
"My dearest son, Daniel, you are my rock, you are the only one who could keep me solid," the letter started, "why God took you away from me I do not know, understand; perhaps one day I will.
"You were so young, so full of life. I wish he would have taken me instead. You were always afraid of dying, and I never believed you. And now you're gone, and I don't know how mommy's going to make it without you.
"It's so hard to think of you, but I do every second. Please help me go on with your baby sister, who you loved so much for such a short time. I give God thanks for letting you see her. For that I give him thanks. But for taking you away, my heart is empty. I will come home to you. Your mother, always and forever."
Daniel was pronounced dead on September 10, 39 days ago, at Doctors Hospital. Since then, both private and public autopsies have been conducted. Court officials have stated that they are still awaiting the conclusion of police investigations before they can announce whether or not a coroner's inquest will be held into his death.

Update on the Daniel Smith Death Cover-Up
Bahamas police have apparently completed their part in the cover-up of Daniel Smith's homicide by handing the files over to an allegedly corrupt magistrate.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Reginald Ferguson said it is now entirely up to the courts to decide if an inquest will be held into Daniel Smith's tragic death.
The 20-year-old son of American celebrity Anna Nicole Smith died on September 10 at Doctors Hospital while visiting his mother and newborn sister Dannilynn, just three days after the 38-year-old celebrity gave birth to the now one month old baby girl.
Just days after the case broke, former Chief Coroner Linda Virgill announced that a coroner's inquest would be held today. But, according to Asst Commissioner Ferguson, whether or not there will be a coroner's inquest now lies in the hands of Chief Magistrate Roger Gomez.
"We all know that that was preempted," he said. "It was too soon to be setting dates for anything so of course there will not be a coroner's inquest (today). There are a lot of other things that still need to be done. But we (the police) have transferred our files and findings to the chief magistrate and we just have to wait and see what he does."
The chief coroner has since been relieved of handling the case. In fact, the entire Coroner's Court system in the country has been dismantled amidst rumours that the high profile case was taking precedence over other court matters. All coroner's cases will now be shared among the 13 magistrates.
The case garnered much international attention since news first leaked that Daniel had died in The Bahamas.
Days after Daniel's death, rumours circulated that he might have died from a drug overdose, but representatives from Anna Nicole's camp vehemently denied the reports and would only say his death was "accidental."
Local pathologists were performing an initial autopsy, but the grief-stricken mother needed a second opinion and flew in American forensic pathologist Cyril Wecht. Mr Wecht's findings revealed that high levels of Zoloft and Lexapro, two antidepressants and Methadone, a pain reliever widely used by recovering drug-addicts, were found in Daniel's system.
His body had been lying in Butler's Funeral Home and Crematorium for nearly six weeks since his death, and almost three weeks after- his mother and "long-time-friend" Howard K Stern exchanged vows on board a private yacht in Bahamian waters. Daniel's body was finally laid to rest on Thursday during an one-hour ceremony at the Lake View Cemetery.
But, according to Asst Commissioner Ferguson, the burial does not signify the end of the twisted story. "The case is definitely not closed," he said. "There are processes still going on; the chief magistrate now has the final say and who knows what's going to happen once he makes his decision. We can't say if there even will or will not be a coroner's inquest as the court is dealing with the matter from now on. The chief magistrate has to look at the case and make that decision."
Asst Commissioner Ferguson reminded that if there is a coroner's inquest, the pathologists will have to present their findings to the magistrate and only at that time will the exact cause of Daniel's death be made public.

Bahamas Embarrassed By Anna Nicole
FNM says the country is still being embarrassed by the antics of Anna Nicole Smith with Bahamian Cabinet Minister Shane Gibson acting as a prop in her cheap publicity stunts.
With the five-week media circus surrounding the death of Anna Nicole Smith's son culminating with his funeral last week, the FNM yesterday claimed the Bahamas continued to suffer embarrassment because of this situation.
"The country is still being embarrassed by the antics of Anna Nicole Smith with Bahamian Cabinet Minister Shane Gibson acting as a prop in her cheap publicity stunts." the FNM said in its commentary on the party's website.
Addressing photos in People magazine of Ms Smith's 'wedding' to her lawyer Howard K Stern - who also claims to be father of her Bahamas-born daughter - the FNM asked what kind of publicity this situation is bringing the Bahamas.
Pointing out that Daniel's body was still in the morgue at the time the 'wedding' took place - and at which Mr Gibson was a guest - the FNM questioned if the government considered this good publicity for the country.
"The wedding takes place on a yacht somewhere off Nassau with Mrs Smith - attired in a flowing white dress and her new husband in a dark suit - jumping into the water.
"Standing next to the couple as they make the plunge is none other than the PLP Minister of Immigration Shane Gibson in short pants and with a pose that speaks eloquently of his anxiousness to see that everything goes right. While the fun and frolic was taking place at sea, the body of Mrs Smith's son, who died tragically only weeks before, was still lying cold in the morgue.
"And Mr Gibson seems to think it is all fine and good publicity for the Bahamas," the FNM said.
The party said there were ..precious few Bahamians who believe that this woman is the kind of person we should be encouraging to live among us as permanent residents, much less put her on the fast track for that status."
This statement is one of many criticisms levelled at the government, and especially Immigration Minister Shane Gibson's handling of the permanent residency status of the Trimspa spokeswoman.
"Minister Gibson and his Cabinet colleagues gave this ridiculous woman permanent residence status in the Bahamas in record quick time. They tried to pass her off as 'an investor' and the kind of person we should be encouraging to come and stay in the Bahamas," the FNM charged.
Daniel died on September 10 at Doctors Hospital. Two autopsies - both public and private - have since been performed on his body.
However, court officials said that they have to await the conclusion of the police investigation before determining if the case will go to the coroner's court.
At this time, some five weeks after Daniel's death, the toxicology report has also not yet been completed.
Meanwhile, a local funeral home owner has reportedly expressed concern over the mental state of Ms Smith.
Loretta Butler-Turner, director of Butler's Funeral Home and Crematorium, reportedly told US media that she was shocked by Ms Smith's behaviour as she laid her son to rest.
Mrs Butler-Turner was quoted as saying of the former Playmate: "I think reality truly has not set in and she wanted to know if she could take him home and give him a warm bath."

Anger Over Handling of Smith Death
The Bahamas government's cover-up of Daniel Smith's alleged homicide highlights the rampant corruption in the PLP and is setting a dangerous precedent.
On the day of 20-year-old Daniel Smith's funeral - six weeks after his drug induced death during a visit to his mother and new baby sister - a Bahamian jurist expressed anger at the "injustice" that has so far been done to the Bahamian public by authorities since his death.
The jurist's anger and disappointment with authorities centred on the fact that they have thus far not conducted, or set a date for an inquest into Daniel's death, despite it being a "matter of policy and procedure" in all cases of "sudden death," such as his, in which no-one is criminally charged.
result that determinations that "no foul play" was involved in Daniel Smith's death remain merely speculative, according to the source, who denounced such claims as "irresponsible" and "scary".
In Monday's INSIGHT, Tribune managing-editor John Marquis described similar concerns:
"Pathologist Cyril Wecht told us Daniel had at least three drugs in his body...and that the 'acute toxicity' of this powerful cocktail probably caused his death. With that established it is clear that Daniel's death is not natural.
"An inquest now needs to decide whether it was an accident, a suicide, a homicide or a case of misadventure."
Yesterday, however; the lawyer ultimately expressed confidence in the likelihood that an inquest would eventually take place.
"It certainly has not finished," said the source.
It was claimed that because of the high profile of the case, authorities will not be able to "just push something like that under the rug."
"If you are not going to charge anyone with homicide you must hold an inquest, there's no ifs and buts about that," said the source.
According to the source, however, the pertinent question with regard to the inquest is: "When?"
Without an inquest at this stage "you know you're losing your trail," and as more time elapses since Daniel's death, it becomes increasingly likely that evidence can "disappear."
Last week, Chief Magistrate Roger Gomez told The Tribune that before a date could be set police and pathology reports had to be completed.
However, the lawyer implied the possibility that a decision as to whether an inquest is to be held could be delayed indefinitely by the police.
"How long is it going to take the police officers to complete their report - how long?" asked the jurist.
Pointing out that the coroner's court closes on December 15, the jurist indicated that time was "running out."
According to assistant commissioner of police, Reginald Ferguson, the four Bahamian police officers who went to California to conduct investigations returned almost two weeks ago, reportedly bringing with them information gathered from interviews with doctors and "other persons."
However, at that time Mr Ferguson said he could not reveal the outcome of these investigations.
Both the source, and Monday's INSIGHT, stated that a key question yet to be answered is how the 20-year-old got possession of the methadone, which was later found in his system.
The October 16 edition of People magazine quoted someone, who had seen the results of the pathology report, as claiming that "he had seven times the therapeutic dose for methadone and seven times the therapeutic dose for Zoloft" in his system.
In the meantime, the source expressed fears that authorities would set a dangerous precedent if they fail to set a date for an inquest.
"There'll be someone else and then you'll be in trouble," the source said.
Sister
Daniel Smith died in Doctors Hospital on September 10 while visiting his mother, Anna Nicole Smith, and his baby sister, Dannie Lynn Hope, born three days earlier.
After being found-dead in the early hours of the morning, an American pathologist hired by Miss Smith, Dr Cyril Wecht, subsequently determined that Daniel died "accidentally" as a result of the effects of a "cocktail" of drugs in his system.
The combination of drugs - two anti-depressants and methadone - would have reportedly affected the brain, lungs, and ultimately Daniel's heart, with devastating results.
Last week, Daniel's grandmother, Virgie Arthur, told CNN's Nancy Grace that she believes her grandson was murdered. "Daniel did not take drugs. No-one could convince me of that," she told the show's host.

Anna Nicole Baby Shocker
Posted Oct 23rd 2006 3:54PM by Harvey Levin
TMZ has learned that Anna Nicole Smith confessed during her pregnancy that Larry Birkhead was the father of her baby.
Sources tell TMZ that late last year, Anna Nicole began having sexual relations with Gaither Ben Thompson, a wealthy real estate developer in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. We're told that Howard K. Stern, the lawyer who claims to be the father of Anna Nicole's newborn baby, was in Myrtle Beach during the time Anna Nicole was seeing Thompson. Remember, Stern has said he had a long-term relationship with Anna Nicole, which seems odd given that Stern accompanied Smith to Myrtle Beach.
Sources say in May of this year, Anna Nicole contacted Thompson to say that he was the father of her soon-to-be-born baby girl. It's especially interesting because we're told that Anna Nicole had contacted people familiar with Thompson inquiring about his wealth. That's when Thompson dropped a bombshell -- that it was impossible for him to father a baby because he had already had a vasectomy. Days later, sources say Anna Nicole confessed to Thompson that Larry Birkhead was the father. Birkhead, an entertainment photographer who had a relationship with Anna Nicole, has filed legal papers in Los Angeles to establish paternity.
And there's a new twist to this story. Anna Nicole and Howard K. Stern have been staying in one of Thompson's houses in the Bahamas. Anna Nicole has established legal residency in the Bahamas under the premise that she owned a home. Tracy Ferguson, Thompson's lawyer, tells TMZ that her client sold one of his homes to Anna Nicole on credit, but she has never been paid a cent. Ferguson says Anna Nicole is in default and Thompson wants her out.
If the Bahamian government believes the alleged home purchase was a scam to gain residency, Anna Nicole could be deported.
Howard K. Stern, Anna's lawyer and rep, could not be reached for comment.

Tourists, fans gawk, call out at Anna Nicole Smith funeral
http://www.theworldlink.com/articles/2007/03/03/news/news14030307.txt
~SNIPPETS~
The mahogany coffin was carried into the white-columned Mount Horeb Baptist Church, as hundreds of tourists and fans watched from behind steel barricades guarded by Bahamian police. Some in the crowd cried out Anna! Anna! We love you!
Smith's mother, Virgie Arthur, arrived in a white stretch limousine with an entourage of about 10 people. She wore a black dress and waved to the cheering crowd.

Smith's body was then taken to the Lakeview Memorial Gardens for a private burial with a smaller group of invited guests, said Richard Milstein, the court-appointed advocate for Smith's 5-month-old daughter, Dannielynn. Onlookers, mostly Bahamians, spontaneously broke out into the hymn When Peace Like a River as the white hearse arrived.
Arthur, who had been cheered earlier at the memorial, was booed as she arrived at the cemetery. The guests disappeared under a green tent covering the gravesite amid tight security. Smith was being buried in a tiara and custom-made, beaded gown, said organizer Patrik Simpson of Beverly Hills, Calif.

Dr. Joshua Perper, the Broward medical examiner, said he will announce Anna Nicole Smith's cause of death next week. She died on Feb. 8 in a Florida hotel room. This was a complex case, Perper said. It was an unusual case from a medical point of view.

Uh. That eulogy that Anna gave for Daniel is heartwrenching. I've got goosebumps. Nearly crying.
Very interesting info Kat. It seems like the Bahamans are not going to allow this to be swept under the rug.
Painfully sad. What a tragic waste.
Earlier, the commissioner told People magazine that there was no evidence "at this time" that the young man had suffered a heart attack.
The body was identified at the morgue Monday by Smith's lawyer, Howard K. Stern, who is also handling arrangements with the funeral home, Butler said.

Who is his attorney?
IF HKS ever goes to trial for the murder of Daniel and/or Anna, this involvement he had wrt the identification and burying of their dead bodies is not going to go over well at all with a jury. They are going to despise this man. And G-d help him if he goes to trial in the Bahamas. He has a better chance in FLA than he'll get from those people. And if it's even possible to get a change of venue down there, the place is too small. Everyone knows the story. His only hope would be to bribe a juror or two. Which wouldn't be beyond him whatsoever.
If, as reported, Daniel had bruises on his body.... what may Wecht "assume" his death was accidental.
I don't get cable in my office.. darn!!! I'd love to see this special.
