AMERICA - The Right Way!! (Day 2199)
Various News Sources and FReepers | January 29, 2007 | All of Us

Posted on 01/29/2007 5:05:59 AM PST by Chairman_December_19th_Society

As we settle into the nighttime of despair, fret not, for the Sun will rise again!!

Good morning!!

We, here, will never forget those who died on September 11, 2001, as we seek to protect the Republic from harm!!

Hitlery said it would be "the height of irresponsibility" to pass the war in Iraq along to the next President. She also says "she resents it".

On the lighter side, and probably the only truthful thing Hitlery has ever said, she was asked what in her background would enable her to deal with evil men. Her answer: "my background equips me to deal with evil and bad men." No comment from UOx42.

Over 300 insurgents were killed in a battle in Iraq.

The International Criminal Court will decide whether to try a Congolese militiaman for using children in combat in its first trial.

John Kerry was meeting with Khatami, a former President of Iran. He actually said, to the former Iranian President: "So we have a crisis of confidence in the Middle East--in the world, really. I've never seen our country as isolated, as much as a sort of international pariah for a number of reasons as it is today."

And to think, he wanted to be President.

For AMERICA - The Right Way, I remain yours in the Cause, the Chairman.

Good morning. I am typing this on my son's computer. Ours has some sort of virus and it is keeping me from accessing the internet (I found this out after an hour on the phone with the tech expert from our provider).

Anyway, Until we get this problem solved I will only be able to access from here, which means a bit of today and tomorrow.

No doubt something fascinating will happen while I can't get on the net.

Good morning. Our computer is getting ready to crash; I recognize the symptoms.

We're ordering a new computer tomorrow, which is the first day that the new Vista system comes available. But if the system crashes before we receive the computer, set it up and learn this new system, I'll have to miss a lot of news and pings and will try and catch up later.

I caught the demo of Vista last year when I was working in the computer department at Best Buy. Didn't impress me. I'd stick with XP if possible...

Good morning.

Excuse my ignorance but what exactly is Vista? Will it replace Windows?

Good morning, Toby! My hubby got me an upside-down tomato planter last year for our anniversary from Hammecher-Schlemmer (spelling?). He does know his bride's hobbies, er, obsessions. It came too late for planting tomatoes here, but I am planning on trying it out this year. The idea is that the weight of the fruit hanging down will keep the stem straight and strong, the position of the plant will confuse pests (and the fruit is somewhat protected from the elements), and finally, that in the top part, where the roots are, you can plant herbs. I'm pretty excited about it! You probably should use a pretty rich soil for tomatoes anyway (and not one that you used for tomatoes or peppers before, because they drain certain nutrients from the soil with successive plantings).

I have some buckets tah we're going to turn into tomato growers. I wonder if regular sized tomatoes can be grown like that too? Anyway I'm going to plant marigolds on the top of the pots.

About Vista...

When you order your new computer you may be able to specify WinXP although Vista will be available tomorrow. If they will load WinXP and give you a free upgrade to Vista (later) that may be an option you wish to exercise.

If you do get Vista, make sure it is at the very least Home Premium, not Home Basic.

As installed, there are differences in the interface between XP and Vista but Vista does offer a "classic" view if you have difficulty with or don't like the new Vista one.

As long as you keep it updated, and there will be lots of updates as bugs will be found, you should be OK. Just keep in mind that you, as one of the early public purchasers, are the real Beta testers.

You might also want to download Firefox 2.0 as a browser instead of IE 7 which comes with Vista. Firefox is known to be a bit more secure and is generally patched much more quickly than Microsoft products.

Here is a link with a picture and a description of what I got. The frame is supported by pvc pipe, so I don't have to rig any kind of system. Supposedly, all I have to do is fill the bottom part with sand, the top part with upside down tomatoes and dirt and whatever herbs I want with the tomatoes, and sit back to wait for my 'maters (LOL!).

http://www.hammacher.com/publish/67403.asp (If this is not an active link, cut and paste it in your browser to see. Or, some nice FReeper could bail me out by making it a hot link for me. Again. For about the six hundredth time.)

Poor Barbaro is gone, and it's hard to think of all that dear champion suffered, but....perhaps something, some extra knowledge or insight... will have been achieved which will help other severely injured horses....from his treatment the last months.
