I did try it last summer, lysie and Toby. I used an old 2 1/2 gallon bucket...a 5 gallon bucket w/soil was too heavy for me to handle while lifting it up to hang. Because of its size I had to keep it watered every day (or more often), a lot of trouble.
I also used Big Boy tomatoe plants...another mistake because the growing tomatoes were too heavy and tended to break the plant stems.
However, I'm going to give it another try this spring/summer...but I'll use cherry tomato plants instead.

I was worried about the weight of the tomatoes, too. Cherry tomatoes would be a much better choice.
