The Chargers lost this game for one basic reason . . . they played -- and coached -- a very stupid game under pressure. Three plays/incidents in particular stood out in this one: 1) that head-butting incident that gave New England an automatic first down after the Chargers had denied them on a 3rd-and-long play; 2) that moron intercepting a pass on 4th down, only to fumble it away; and 3) Schottenheimer's idiotic challenge of that same play, which cost him a timeout that could have made the difference on the final drive.

Though I should point out (with regard to #3) that it probably wouldn't have mattered even if San Diego had kicked the field goal at the end of regulation. They would have figured out a way to lose the game in overtime anyway.

Soon Brady will have something in common with Terry. I'll give you a hint...it has to do with jewelry they own.

As for the Troy Brown play...well they shouldn't have had their FG blocked to begin with.

Boy, you're a tough cookie. Can't you feel my "Steeler fan" pain after all these years?

:-)

I believe you...... and I really hope so.

They're about the only team that beat the Steelers in a playoff game in the past 10 or so years that I felt were as good or better than us. I really respect that organization, especially the coach.

I've learned to think like Belichick. I'm just a cold, heartless bastard.

I wish more NFL coaches would punish these guys when their antics get out of hand. Maybe we'd see less of this crap and more football.

Sadly, these guys are conditioned to trash-talk from High School through college and into the pros. They talk-talk-talk trash while sporting their own halo. There's no better example of this crap than Shannon Sharpe. How bad did he have to talk to Derrick Thomas in order to set him off like he did?

Football alone isn't good enough for them. They have to mouth off about it.... and others pay.

What I respect most about the Steelers organization is their stability. Heck your longest playoff drought since 1972 was only 4 years. The Packers and 49ers had great runs but then they really went into a long dark period. It's nice going into a season feeling pretty confident that your team at the very least will be playing in the post season.

Well, we are talking about a class of people who haven't had to accept responsibility for their behavior since junior high. They've basically stopped maturing at 17 years old, and the world has kissed their ass since then.

Yes........ thanks.

I'm thinking Russ Grimm, local guy, ex-Pitt guy, ex-Washington Redskin Hog will be the next coach, but maybe there will be a surprise.

Bring back Ditka.

LOL

I would laugh my *ss off if Mike came back! He still seems to have a great deal of youthfulness in him, but I know this is not going to happen.

I was whimsically thinking he'd be willing to take the head coaching job for a couple of years while Cowher gets to rest and be with the family. Then Mike would gracefully split and let 'The Jaw' come back to the Stillers.

;-)

It could have been worse. I told a buddy of mine that if the chargers won, I'd say something nice about hillary.

Thank you, Pats! I hate having to lie thru my teeth.

I was just thinking; Did the fact that Chargers management decreed that tickets should only go to Southern Californians create an overly noisy environment that prevented Schottenheimer's screams for a timeout before the 2 point conversion to be heard by the refs?

Could be. And if so...the Bolts management must take some of the blame for this loss.

Do the guys in both have network feed??? Or is that against League rules?

They do have access to replay technology and a better view of all the plays. Whether they have netowrk feed or not, I don't know.

"...never try to predict the future when it comes to talent it's a fool's bet." That is exactly what the Draft is based upon and the success of some general managers, Pittsburg's especially, shows that some people can do just that.
