I'd like to think you're right, but Nifong has so much to lose here that he's liable to do any damn thing to save his own butt. I wonder if he'll end up like OJ "looking for the real killers". He could go to his grave saying these young men did it. It's only the money, the lawyers and the ability to make this thing so high profile that has given these guys a chance. If the parents were folks of modest means, I'm afraid they would have been long since convicted and locked up for a long, long time. Courts and prosecutors routinely put the screws to those without the resources to fight back and Nifong's miscalculation in this case should put a brighter spotlight on that, but I doubt that it will.
I believe that Nifong lost the chance to salvage anything out of this a long long time ago. He's desperate, but I think he knows it's over. The end draws near.
Unfortunately for him, he's pushed matters to the point where simply disbarring him or obtaining a civil judgment against him simply will not suffice. By the time this plays out, his butt may be Property Of Bubba.
