The FreeRepublic Saddle Club thread! - Thread 11

Posted on 01/02/2007 9:57:39 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - (very out of date) Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

We finished disc 2 of the first season yesterday.

I enjoy seeing what everyone's life was like before they got on that plane.

Who is trying to keep them there tho...the hunter guy, or the jerk guy...:) I like the little drug addict guy:)

Homesick? Where are you from?

Those are some incredible trails and rock formations that you and Frog go on. I'm amazed every time I see them.

Yep, I don't imagine you can get within 50-75 yards of mule deer unless you are a coyote.

Hi. After spending the weekend with my man, horses, etc and enjoying the warm weather I am trying to figure out how to retire :) I am wasting way to much time working for a living.

The little drug addict guy - Charlie... was one of the hobbits in LOTR... I like him too. :~)

The jerk guy, Sawyer... has never grown on me... I don't like him an better 3 seasons later.

I know low carb works for me. I just get to feeling too bad on it . I'm glad it works for you though.

The springs always amaze me when we find them. About the only clue is a couple of cottonwood trees down the hill aways or at the spring. And with all the hills, they are really hidden.

Well low carb diets made me feel sick too....45 a day is not that low.

Actually 1000 cal. and 45 carbs a day is quite a bit of food if you eat the right foods. lean meat and vegtables:)

Those trails are just awe inspiring. And your horses just walk along, totally unconcerned. Our horses would be sure there were snakes under the leaves, mountain lions in the rocks and the devil himself around the corner :)

I don't watch much TV but I absolutely refuse to watch the animal shows unless it's racing or rodeo. I realize that nature is hard but I can not watch lions and aligators taking down antelope and zebra.

I sure would like to see that horse come day. I have a hard time imagining a horse that tall.

Do you ever go through there with a metal detector? I would just have to do that, searching for who knows what. Think of all the travelers over the centuries who have used those rocks for shelter.

Thanks. I think it's over but I picked up stuff from the floor that couldn't get wet, just in case. It was so freakish. Less than 30 minutes. When I left there were probably 20 cars in the parking lot that people left.

Pretty palominos (including Harley of course). I can't say I blame him for not wanting to walk in mud :)

I rode my old mare on a trail/endurance ride thing once. One of the obstacles was tires laid across the road, four deep. I stopped to try and figure out what to do, I didn't want to walk her through them. While I was thinking, she jumped the damn things. I stayed on but lost my hat :) and just asked the judge there to hang on to it for me. He was standing with his mouth wide open.
