Various News Sources and FReepers | January 2, 2007 | All of Us

Posted on 01/02/2007 5:19:42 AM PST by Chairman_December_19th_Society

As we settle into the nighttime of despair, fret not, for the Sun will rise again!!

Good morning!!

We, here, will never forget those who died on September 11, 2001, as we seek to protect the Republic from all who will do her harm!!

Funeral services for President Ford will take place today at the National Cathedral.

The AP ran a story pointing out that United States casualties in Iraq have been lower than past wars.

Romney is said to be ready to put in the paperwork to run in the 2008 election.

For AMERICA - The Right Way, I remain yours in the Cause, the Chairman.

On the other hand, he left us before the democrats took over Congress, so we don't have to endure Pelosi being in charge of the Congressional ceremonies. And it has put a crimp in the stories of Pelosi's "coronation."

Personally, I think Jerry Ford was a good Republican to the very end.

One thing that both dems and reps agree on NOW about Ford is that he was a good and decent man who put the nation first instead of himself. IMO there is no higher compliment for a life well-lived.

Sorry I am late in answering. I believe Donald Rumsfeld will be one of the speakers.

I would like to hear VP Cheney's eulogy again, for it would certainly be a fitting farewell to his friend and his President.

I think he was a good Republican as well, but I'm still bugged by his bugginess about Iraq. We just settled the major question over there the other night....

The "mistake" President Ford cited was talking about weapons of mass destruction as one of the reasons for going to war.

In addition, I am not willing to take the word of Woodward, whose grainy tape could very well have been doctored.

Woodward's interview w/Ford was years ago, while in the more recent one w/his friend Ford expressed the opinion that it was good to bring down Hussein.

Woodward is not called "Mortuary Bob" for nothing. He has made a career out of unnamed sources and interviewing men and publishing after they are dead and cannot refute his "interpretations".

I'd be willing to take that bet that Woodward doctored the tape....

GOOD A.M CHAIR, ALL, FROM THE MISSISSIPPI GULF COAST, USA, BRUISED BUT NOT BROKEN!!!!

There are some countries that had better back off on Israel, you can bet changes have and are being made since their war with the radicals awhile back. Woe be upon them when they lash out....

That time already, start putting up the decorations, I honestly believe D saves the last ribbon off the tree.
My 'putting up' days are not more, their problem now.

You gotta know that Mrs. Ford at her age is tired with all that is going on with her husbands funeral, may God bless her and her family.

Allie has spend the night company tonight, one of the kids that she grew up with when we lived in town, hasn't seen her since we moved.

Warm here, kinda, in the 50's but might get in the 60's, guess it depends on which way the wind blows.

I just wanted to check in and say hi so, HI.

Good morning, excuse me, good 'afernoon'. Been out picking up firecracker paper, spent fireworks, somehow GD 'forgot' to do it and she has company coming. Oh well, there is old PawPaw to do it. She tries to get me to feed the horse MO but I will not do it, she wanted him (so did SIL, BAD) so it is going to be her thing to take care of him. Aw, you know me, I do feed him some, well, a little bit, OK. OK a bunch of times.

Oh, I got me a flounder gig, a stick with an sharp spike on it, no bending over to pick up the paper.

Good afternoon, Toby. Using your flounder gig gives you an A+ in Time Management Studies. LOL

With 60 degree temps down your way (and mine, summer clothes will be in season all year long.

I didn't get to wear the UGG boots a single time last winter when my daughter gave to me. And now that I've put in gas logs, it's not cold enough to fire them up. (I slip a little and do so early in the morning and late at night though just to enjoy the flames.)

Did you get a chance to hear Denyce Graves sing The Lord's Prayer at President Ford's funeral service in the cathedral? It was absolutely beautiful...as all of the music was imo.

President Ford...quite a different person and president from 2 of those former presidents sitting in the audience. You KNOW which ones I mean, I'm sure.

I have to be honest, it has gone on to long for me to watch, three days of it. Oh, I have respect for President Ford and admire his wife for what she faced and beat. My prayers are for the family for sure.

I was impressed with President Ford's choice of music when he was taken from his California town and put in Air Force 1....

..as they were carrying his casket down the stairs, they, of course, played Hail to the Chief....

...Immediately following this was All Hail the Power of Jesus Name...gave me chills, it was so touching!

Me too, Guennie. Beautiful music that so honestly reflected President Ford's faith.
