I was in a good mood once, but I couldn't find any practical use for it.

It is possibly because you put too much value on normality.

Face it, reality is just a collective hunch. It's doesn't really matter. Look at all the weirdos out there; you have a long way to go before you stick out in a crowd.

Besides, have you read my latest sig?

Yes, that's precisely why the cartoon was directed to you.

Is that one of your pleasure palaces

It's like something out of science fiction

Wherever Cardy goes is a pleasure palace SL, where he will take you out of this world, dear Derly.

A meeting with Cardy is not just a date, it is the beginning of an experience, an awakening, a dawning of self-awareness. Then, the flame of Venus burning in you all, raises her from the constricting shell, to be born aloft, gossamer veiled by sweet modesty, and perfumed by your consort's touch, enveloped in an otherworldly realm of opulence, music, and old world decadence, encouraging the artful display of that rich sensual tapestry of your sex, so long suppressed and hidden from the world.

You blossom, you flower – and as you, towards your canopied bed, you hear those sage words from another age:

Shower down thy love, O burning bright! For one night or the other night,
Will come the Gardener in white, and gathered flowers are dead, Yasmin

OK, OK I know it is only Motel 6.

You didn't say so, but I suspected as much.

"Must be those magic mushrooms he's been snacking on."

Nah. I think his mama left him in a patch of them when he was still on all fours and he was snatched by the gnomes. He never quite got over it.

Hence the horrific gnome abuse.
In the basement.
The Leprechauns shall have their vengeance.

I got a funny story. I have this one mom I deal with. Her kid is with relatives for now. Her problem is drugs. Naturally, the court ordered her to have random drug screens. I tested her a couple of days ago and she tested positive for amphetamines. Well, she just had no idea how that could've happened because that wasn't her drug of choice. Later, we got a phone call from her mother with a little tip. She'd kicked her out of the house and when she was getting her stuff together, she found several containers of urine. The silly b*tch failed a drug test with borrowed pee. Welsome to my world.

*sigh* If you can't trust your pee dealer, who can you trust?

One of the things that works in my favor with most of these people is that they think they are the smart ones and that I'm the dumb one. I let them think that way until it suits me to prove otherwise. I just love the shocked, "how the h*ll did you know THAT" look.

Yeah, you could say that. Another thing that's kinda fun, and very useful, is during an investigation, depending on the allegations, I find out whatever I can about the alleged offenders before I actually interview them. Then, when I ask them questions that I already know the answer to, I can find out real quick if they're going to be honest with me. Not only is it relevant to the investigation, for obvious reasons, but if the allegations are founded and a case is opened, then it helps get things a little more real from the beginning. Sometimes they'll keep on lying, but a lot of times they figure out early on that there's no point because they never really know if they can get away with it. And if I am working a case, I'll tell the clients right up front that I can handle just about anything as long as I know what it is I'm dealing with, and will do whatever I can to help them resolve the problems, but that if I catch them lying to me, I can make their lives very difficult. There've been a few that decided to test it and found out the hard way. It isn't personal; it's just that there comes a point where you can see that they're accustomed to lying their way out of things and essentially, it's a waste of time, and very unfair to the kids, to let them get away with it.

A good example was a case I had a couple of years back. The child was in foster care and there were drug issues with both parents. Now, the dad was actually a very likeable guy and kind of a character. Anyway, when I first got the case, the judge had ordered random drug screens on both parents (seems like a lot of the funny stories are the ones involving drug screening). The parents were at my office for a visit with the child and I had them do a drug screen. One of my coworkers actually did the tests for me that day, and she is quite a character in her own right. Well, she had him lift up his shirt and noticed a deoderant bottle tucked in the front of his pants and asked him what it was. He said it was deoderant. She told him to open it. It was a roll on bottle, but the roller had been removed. She told him to put some on....which he did. Turned out, it was urine. Well, of course, the whole office pretty much figured out what was going on; we'd have to take turns ducking into someone's office and closing the door to keep from busting a gut right in front of him and his wife, who was busy chewing him out big time when she found out. I worked very closely with this family for nearly 2 years, and for whatever else happened, this guy NEVER tried to BS me after that, on drug screens or anything else.

Wow, Libby, I'll bet you have a LOT of great stories to tell! Sounds like you really love your job. Anybody who's in it to help people (especially children) is alright in my book.
I'll bet you see some really hard characters. Anybody actually threaten you? I'm not sure I could handle your job. Gotta have a real backbone to do what you do!
