It certainly was! I've had several scares and fender benders related to snow and ice, but nothing like this. I hit the ice at 55 and completely lost control. The car spun out clear across the opposite side of the highway. Thank God there was nothing coming the opposite direction at the time. I was able to starighten it out of the spin just as it went off the road (years of Colorado driving experience paid off) or otherwise I would've likely flipped it and/or slammed into a stationary object...like a tree. I don't think I stopped shaking for 45 minutes! I was too thankful it wasn't worse to even hope that repair costs wouldn't exceed my deductible. After that, my biggest fear before I got pulled out was that somebody else would come along and do the exact same thing and land on too of ne.
I'd already been on the phone off and on yesterday evening with dispatch dealing with this other situation, so when I called them, they had somebody there immediately. And a lot of people stopped to make sure I was okay and offer assistance. Today, one of my coworkers picked me up so I could deal with some of the more urgent matters at hand at work and my supervisor is picking me up for court in the morning, so my schedule may not be terribly disrupted, although I might end up having to put in a few hours this weekend to meet a couple of deadlines.. The car should be ready by Friday....coincidentally, the same day I will make the final payment on it. Must be Darks' fault.
.
The fact that they were married on Valentine's Day suggests that they actually liked each other at one time.
Today is my dad's birthday.
Before my time.
Happy B-Day Daddyliberty!
I absolutely adore Hawaii! Never got to live there, but have been there twice. I really want to go back and take my daughter. She would love it!
Let's all move...
Yep. I figured as much.
I should hope so!
LOL!
Maybe if we're really nice, Cardy will float us all out there on his big, cool ship. Looks like there's room for all of us on there!
Darks would probably spend the whole trip pretending to be Leonardo on the titanic. Better keep him locked up. :)
Good idea. He'd sink the ship just for that touch of authenticity...
Ooooooooooooooo!
We know him too well, Nully! ;)
Dang those sweets from Sweets look sooooo good. Just looking at them makes me feel fat!
A Mississippi Farmer got in his pickup and drove to a neighboring farm and knocked at the farmhouse door. A young boy about 12 opened the door.
"Is yer paw home?" the farmer asked.
"No sir, he ain't," the boy replied. "He went into town."
"Well, said the farmer, is yer maw here?"
"No, sir, she ain't here neither. She went into town with paw."
"How about your brother, Howard? Is he here?"
"He went with maw and paw."
The farmer stood there for a few minutes, shifting from one foot to the other and mumbling to himself.
"Is there anything I can do fer ya?" the boy asked politely. "I knows where all the tools are, if you want to borry one. Or maybe I could take a message fer paw."
"Well," said the farmer uncomfortably, "I really wanted to talk to yer paw. It's about your brother Howard getting my daughter, Pearly Mae, pregnant."
The boy thought for a moment, then said; "You'd have to talk to Pa about that. If it helps you any, I know that Pa charges $50 for the bull and $25 for the hog, but I really don't know how much he gets fer Howard."
Thank you SL I really needed that calorie and all!:)
Can some of my smart friends on DD tell me what a
hardware checking software especially for memory and hard drive is?
My puter is still crashing to black screen and now I believe it may not be a software problem but something more deadly.
I will await your expert info and try to stay online long enough to get it. ;)~ gran
