I think this could explain a lot of things... like Nintendo's plan to delay WiiConnect24 (delay as in, not really support it until then), and why we haven't seen those colored Wiis yet.

Of course it's still just word of mouth at this point, but that'd be pretty crazy if they had the system down to $200 by Spring.

It always pays to be that consumer who waits. I think a price drop and color choice will happen, it is Nintendos MO throughout the years.

If Nintendo plans to drop the price by spring, Econ 101 says that the demand for the Wii is low. From what I can tell in my city, Every Wii shipped to a store is sold out in minutes.

I can't believe that Nintendo would drop a console price by 20% only 4 months after launch. I hope they do, mind you, with two kids and a wife clammoring for one for Christmas (and poor Santa's bag is empty ;( ) but I will believe it when I see it.

For example, the DS Lite has been out for over a year and there's been no price drop.
