- What's Nintendo's gameplan post-launch? A local Toys-R-Us manager may have let slip some yet-to-be-confirmed details for the Wii come Spring '07.

Of course it's still just word of mouth at this point, but that'd be pretty crazy if they had the system down to $200 by Spring.
You don't actually believe this belongs in Breaking News on a political forum, do you?
Well it is kind of a slow day.
fyi
It always pays to be that consumer who waits. I think a price drop and color choice will happen, it is Nintendos MO throughout the years.
If that's the case then I won't feel so bad about not being able to get one for a christmas gift for my husband.
My mistake mate, definitely didn't mean to put it in breaking news, not sure what I was thinking. It did go through though, so yes, slow day I suppose ^_^
Pretty neat though. If Nintendo could actually pull it off (I'm still holding my breath), a $200 system so new would be insane.
If Nintendo plans to drop the price by spring, Econ 101 says that the demand for the Wii is low. From what I can tell in my city, Every Wii shipped to a store is sold out in minutes.
I can't believe that Nintendo would drop a console price by 20% only 4 months after launch. I hope they do, mind you, with two kids and a wife clammoring for one for Christmas (and poor Santa's bag is empty ;( ) but I will believe it when I see it.
For example, the DS Lite has been out for over a year and there's been no price drop.
Yes although the DS Lite has seen no price drop, there has been price drops on the DS as a whole.
Yes, a drop on the first gen DS because the DS Lite is out.
There was no price drop on the GBA until the GBA SP came out. There was a drop on the GBA SP when the DS came out. Jumping over to Sony, there was a price drop on the original PlayStation when the PS2 came out, and a similar PS2 drop now that the PS3 is out.
A console has never been discounted until a better one was offered. Past performance does not necessarily predict future performance, but if I were betting I'd bet against a $200 list price Wii anytime in 2007.
Did you get your WII for Christmas?
We're still trying to get one, but we keep missing them.
My husband literally got to several stores just minutes after they had sold out of them.
I thought the PS3 was going to be the popular item, but you can easily get those. The Wiis are very hard to find, and it's now January.
