The Dragonflies' Lair~Thread XXXII~
The Muse and Poets of The Lair | December 1, 2006 | Soaring Feather

My Dragon Fly and Me

If I could be a Dragon Fly
and wing my way through the sky
I would never be shy
just me and my Dragon Fly!

By moonlight we ride the wind
chase the comets tail for fun
by day we would hide from the sun
our fragile wings would come undone

On darkest nights we would use
fireflies as our guide
we would dip and we would glide
through the heavens open wide
and scatter diamonds in the night sky
my Dragon Fly and me...

And we would wing past our lovers
silent in the night...
to kiss their face in our flight
much to their surprise and delight
my Dragon Fly and me in sight...

Such a view do we share
away up here in the air
of breezes soft through our hair
my Dragon Fly and me a pair...

A Coat
by William Butler Yeats

I MADE my song a coat
Covered with embroideries
Out of old mythologies
From heel to throat;
But he fools caught it,
Wore it in the world's eyes
As though they'd wrought it.
Song, let them take it,
For there's more enterprise
In walking naked.
While I, from that reed-throated whisperer
Who comes at need, although not now as once
A clear articulation in the air,
But inwardly, surmise companions
Beyond the fling of the dull ass's hoof
-- Ben Jonson's phrase -- and find when June is come
At Kyle-na-no under that ancient roof
A sterner conscience and a friendlier home,
I can forgive even that wrong of wrongs,
Those undreamt accidents that have made me
-- Seeing that Fame has perished this long while.
Being but a part of ancient ceremony -- >1
Notorious, till all my priceless things
Are but a post the passing dogs defile.

A Prayer On Going Into My House
by William Butler Yeats

GOD grant a blessing on this tower and cottage
And on my heirs, if all remain unspoiled,
No table or chair or stool not simple enough
For shepherd lads in Galilee; and grant
That I myself for portions of the year
May handle nothing and set eyes on nothing
But what the great and passionate have used
Throughout so many varying centuries
We take it for the norm; yet should I dream
Sinbad the sailor's brought a painted chest,
Or image, from beyond the Loadstone Mountain,
That dream is a norm; and should some limb of the Devil
Destroy the view by cutting down an ash
That shades the road, or setting up a cottage
Planned in a government office, shorten his life,
Manacle his soul upon the Red Sea bottom.

PEACE FOR YOUR SOUL

Come all who are laden with burdens of heaviness
Enter the Cathedral’s gates where you will find rest
The Lord has created a Cathedral of peace
A place where His Glory refuses to cease
A place of compassion from hearts that do care
A place to find comfort in a time of despair

A place built by battle scars of warrior women
Who realize their requirement because of what they've been given
The mantle to prophesy, to heal, and to teach
To usher in deliverance, to minister, and to preach
All of God's gifts are waiting just for you
As you enter the Cathedral and weep on its pew

And Worship The Lord with all of your being
Until His train filling The
Temple is all you are seeing
The ultimate Worship the Cathedral is built on
Lifting up Our Father, and His Glorious Son
Singing hymns of praises and exalting His Name
Upon entering this place, you will never be the same

Worshipping our God in Spirit and in Truth
Manifested in the Cathedral is spiritual proof
That the Builders of the Cathedral have heeded to the Voice
Of an Almighty God to serve Him by choice
Let the music from the Cathedral minister to your soul
Let the liberty of God's Spirit unto you unfold

Such a wonderful savor that is present in this place
Of a Spirit so tangible that of Him you will taste
The Sweetness of Him so His Goodness will be seen
Within the walls of the Cathedral by sites so serene
Let the Builders of this place whom God has ordained
Minister to your souls by His Glory proclaimed

Enter the Cathedral with awe stricken Reverence
And the Spirit of God will meet you and welcome your presence
For those who desire for God to make Whole
Meet him at the Cathedral for the healing of your soul

What a good find, Lady, thank you.

I like the impressionist rendering of the cathedral.

Morningside Cathedral

Thomas Berry

We have heard in this Cathedral

Bach's Passion

The Lamentations of Jeremiah

Ancient experiences of darkness over the earth

Light born anew

But now, darkness deeper than even God

Can reach with a quick healing power

What sound,

What song,

What cry appropriate

What cry can bring a healing

When a million year rainfall

Can hardly wash away the life destroying stain?

 What sound?

Listen -- earth sound

Listen -- the wind through the hemlock

Listen -- the owl's soft hooting

in the winter night

Listen -- the wolf -- wolf song

Cry of distant meanings

woven into a seamless sound

Never before has the cry of the wolf expressed such meaning

On the winter mountainside

Morningside

This cry our revelation

As the sun sinks lower in the sky

Over our wounded world

The meaning of the moment

And the healing of the wound

Are there in a single cry

A throat open wide

For the wild sacred sound

Of some Great Spirit

A Gothic sound -- come down from the beginning of time

If only humans could hear

How see the wolf as guardian spirit

As saviour guide?

Our Jeremiah, telling us,

not about the destruction of

Jerusalem or its temple

Our Augustine, telling us,

not about the destruction of Rome and civilization

Our Bach,

telling us not about the Passion of Christ in ancient times,

But about the Passion of Earth in our times?

Wolf -- our earth, our Christ, ourselves.

The arch of the Cathedral itself takes on the shape

Of the uplifted throat of the wolf

Lamenting out present destiny

Beseeching humankind

To bring back the sun

To let the flowers bloom in the meadows,

The rivers run through the hills

And let the Earth

And all its living creatures

Live their

Wild,

Fierce,

Serene

And Abundant life.

This is a fabulous piece.
Can we really know and appreciate what has gone before us?

When I was in Finland, I was in several Medieval Cathedrals. Was an awesome feeling to know one was walking on stones walked on by worshipers all those centuries ago. It was most humbling and awesome.

From walking Roman roads made thousands of years ago,
Seeing four-foot high doors in ancient abodes,
Historic cathedrals with millennia of 'who's who,
One must be impressed, we know not what we do.

Hello Soaring Feather. Sorry that I missed the Sunday greetings. I was at work. The picture string is certainly grand. Hope that all had a pleasant Sunday.

............

The standing stones from ancient days,

Glastonbury's terraced maze,

The Roman Villa, (Cleaned all new),

Castles in the morning haze,

All these things ancestors knew.
