My Dragon Fly and Me
If I could be a Dragon Fly and wing my way through the sky I would never be shy just me and my Dragon Fly!
By moonlight we ride the wind chase the comets tail for fun by day we would hide from the sun our fragile wings would come undone
On darkest nights we would use fireflies as our guide we would dip and we would glide through the heavens open wide and scatter diamonds in the night sky my Dragon Fly and me...
And we would wing past our lovers silent in the night... to kiss their face in our flight much to their surprise and delight my Dragon Fly and me in sight...
Such a view do we share away up here in the air of breezes soft through our hair my Dragon Fly and me a pair...

Dark of Night
If I dream, I dream of night.
A starless sky of hidden moons,
Crickets tune their instruments,
And katydids hum nocturnal tunes.
A lullaby called Come Hither,
A song to soothe a friend.
With silences of darkswept breeze,
In woodland without end.
My eyes are all reflections,
As ghostly lights may play,
On billowed gauzy curtains,
In windows as they sway.
The place I am is restfulness,
The place I seek is Home.
My head will not rest easy here,
And still I choose to roam.

Bright Eye, Tail Bushed
Im bright of eye, I can attest,
But not from having gotten rest.
The coffee that I do consume,
Has opened eye to too-bright room.
My tail is bushed, I must confess,
My fitful sleep only from duress.
The blessings of a restful night,
I havent seemed to master, quite.
Bright-eyed and bushy-tailed am I,
Eager to give the new day a try,
But sometime soon I may just slink,
Off to my nest to catch a wink.

How High May Spirits Soar? (Sonnet)
|
|
|
|
How high may spirits soar? How high is hope? How high is happiness? How high the sky? What trembling thoughts, ascend with me, this happy slope, Towards the moon, the stars: Tell me how high? How high the Heaven, when and where my angels sing? Their hymns, I hear resound through all my soul. How high is colour? Where exquisite Light may bring A gentle goodness; Swoon! How high the whole? How high the price for this? Would not be dear enough. My senses, all the Universe, below! Each crest, each vale, each life so far is near enough- Oh Joy! Oh Happiness! Undreamed before! What seems so small conveys a heart so high above; I need to know in words: How high is Love?

Nice poem. Thanks.

How High May Spirits Soar? (Sonnet)
Afternoon Lady, This Sonnet is FABULOUS, wish I had written it.
Sonnet writing is tough. I tried a couple of times without success.
Thanks for posting the Sonnet and the soaring bird. Trying to get my poem generator up and running. I usually end up writing air poetry just as I am about to nod off.
How goes it today for you?? Weather wise, we are headed for an ice storm to hit Sunday. Egads, don't look forward to that.

Never pass up the opportunity to go for a joy ride.
Allow the experience of fresh air and the wind in your face to be pure ecstasy.
When loved ones come home, always run to greet them.
Run, romp, and play daily.
Be loyal.
Never pretend to be something you're not.
Eat with gusto and enthusiasm.
If what you want lies buried, dig until you find it.
When someone is having a bad day, be silent, sit close by and nuzzle them gently.
Thrive on affection and let people touch you - enjoy back rubs and pats on your neck.
When you leave your yard, make it an adventure.
Avoid biting when a simple growl will do.
No matter how often you're scolded, don't pout - run right back and make friends.
Bond with your pack.
On cold nights, curl up in front of a crackling fire.
When you're excited, speak up.
When you're happy, dance around and wag your entire body.
Delight in the simple joy of a long walk.
If you stare at someone long enough, eventually you'll get what you want.
Don't go out without ID.
Leave room in your schedule for a good nap.
Always give people a friendly greeting.
If it's not wet and sloppy, it's not a real kiss.

LOL, this is so cute. Love the text, did you write it? If so it should go in the Anthology along with the graphic.
To: Soaring Feather
Unfortunately, once again the author is unknown.

Here's a fun piece:
Sermon in a Loaf of Bread
Flour white as winter snow,
White as purity, you know,
Take six cups measured well,
And keep some more at hand to go.
Yeast that makes soft bread to grow,
Mix with water warm, you know,
Two cups will do to start the brew,
And next, two spoons of sugar go.
Take some salt, a spoon or so,
Salt gives savour, I'm sure you know,
Preserves the good like holy life,
Into the flour it must go.
Oil, two spoons, will so
Add richness to the bread, you know,
Richness to remind us of God's loving touch,
Into the yeast water it must go.
Half the flour, watch it flow
Into the mixing bowl you know,
Remember how God rewards the giving,
As you watch it whitely go.
Now comes the yeast to make it grow,
Yeast lets the air in, you know,
Like God's grace to a sin-sick world,
Into half the flour it must go.
With spoon and then with hand also
Stir flour and yeast. You know
How hard hearts are made soft through strife
So push the dough where it must go.
Add more flour to make it grow,
Like children growing up you know,
Soon all the flour gets added in,
To your kneeding board the dough must go.
Now you get to beat the dough,
Kneed it long, for you must know
That bread, like hearts, needs lots of work.
To the rising bowl it must go.
Now the hard part - watch that dough
double in size with time, you know.
Taking it early will make it heavy.
Like the prodigal's Father, let it go.
Double it twice, then shape that dough,
Like God letting us live our lives, you know,
He gives us freedom to suffer and joy,
Then pushes us where he wants us to go.
In your pans let your bread loaves grow,
As God wants us shaped his way, you know.
As they rise one last time, heat the oven hot,
Then into bake they do go.
Lovely the smell of bread from dough
Like growth in holiness, you know.
You know they will be done when they thump true,
Then to their proper end they'll go!

LOL.
This poem is so rich in humour, rhyme, direction, lessons,- like a guide book for living and baking bread. The ingredients all listed for both.
To: Lady Jag
Ya know, you could have written that piece. It's really great.
