My Dragon Fly and Me
If I could be a Dragon Fly and wing my way through the sky I would never be shy just me and my Dragon Fly!
By moonlight we ride the wind chase the comets tail for fun by day we would hide from the sun our fragile wings would come undone
On darkest nights we would use fireflies as our guide we would dip and we would glide through the heavens open wide and scatter diamonds in the night sky my Dragon Fly and me...
And we would wing past our lovers silent in the night... to kiss their face in our flight much to their surprise and delight my Dragon Fly and me in sight...
Such a view do we share away up here in the air of breezes soft through our hair my Dragon Fly and me a pair...

No problem. Today would have been a perfect day to go to the lake fishing. Couldn't go because I had to stay home with my granddaughter. I would have taken her, but Brrrrrr! Too cold for a seven year old. Maybe tomorrow I can get up there (provided the road is still open).

Finally got my computer back on line, and so i leave a small present for one and all.
New Years Observation
Time, its like the film of a soap bubble
vivid colors through which you see life
all of its joys and tears, laugher and strife
each treasured moment and each stumble
It flows, shifting your perspective as you observe
giving you a vision on the winds of change
showing how each moment will slowly range
and how life moves to fates odd swerve

Hello stranger, so good to hear from you!
Glad you are okay!
I love the poem.
Strange, yesterday I started to write a poem similar to yours, I used the kaleidoscope as a reference.
Good karma?? Great minds think alike??

Good morning, Dad!
Glad you like the photo. I think it is quite moving, sunrise as the sky clears after a snow/ice storm.

I don't know. The only ice fishing trip I went on was with my dad and one of his friends in December 1974 or 75. They augured their holes in the ice and started fishing while I was working on my hole in the ice. Before I could get my line in the water the wind came up, and my dad said "Time to go". We didn't have any shelter. So, I've never actually experienced ice fishing. I saw many shanties on the ice at Lake Sacajawea in North Dakota, along with the fisherman's vehicle. But, that's as close as I've gotten.

You'd love ice fishing here in Minnesota, they take it SERIOUS!
Imagine an ice house with; AM/FM/Cassette/CD and 8 speaker system, Color TV with VCR, a microwave, card table and chairs, windows with curtains, often a rug, and propane heaters, bunk beds and some are even fancy by comparison. They are scattered on every lake in the winter, and on some lakes there are so many that they set them up in 'streets and avenues' so they can get mail and have pizzas delivered.(seriously) Some guys live on the lake for months, fishing, fishing, fishing, to their hearts content.

Grumpy old men, huh? Yeah, I saw many "ice houses" while living in North Dakota, but only from a distance. I've never seen one on the inside, but I can imagine how creative some can get. Perhaps When I retire I might look into trying this (might have to get an invite from someone who lives where ice fishing is possible). In California there aren't many lakes within a reasonable driving distance where this type of fishing is possible.
