The Hobbit Hole XXXII - Sweet is the sound of falling rain
The Freeper Hobbit Hole Blog ^ | December 1, 2006

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!

O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.

O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.

O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!

It's that part in front of and mostly behind the chainlink fence. I thought about building it up (can't dig....I think there's a gas line under there) and plant grass or annuals (just in case there's a need for heavy equipment to access thebackyard.)

Yeah, he did a good job of being a 19th century European eccentric genius. Really just saw him as the character, rather than as David Bowie playing the character.

For anyone still really into "Lost":

DIY Dharma Initiative Food labels and more Dharma labels.

The "Nutrition Facts" on the back of the beer label made me laugh...

What are they doing?

We are staying in the house due to ice, and priming walls today. Soooo close to being able to paint!

The store is switching gas brands. Over the last few days they've replaced the pumps (the old ones are sitting by my gate...*sigh*), and now it looks like they're working on the signs and the roof or whateveryou'dcallit over the pumps.

Running out to the coffee house for a bit and then to the library and grocery store. And Tam is being a nuisance 'cause he wants me to play fetch. And there's a bird on the GROUND by my feeder, but it's ignoring the feeder itself. Two weeks and they're still so oblivious to the thing that the seeds are starting to sprout inside the feeder because they've been sitting so long. Guess I should replace 'em. But I wish the birds would come!

Spring can't be far behind.

We have a drip, we think it's from the dishwasher which is 9 months out of it's limited 5 year warrenty. Luckily, it's dripping into the basement near a drain, so, no harm, no foul. Our old dishwasher lasted 22 years, with, maybe, one service call.

It's raining here. Raining ice.

We got half or so the first coat of prime up. I'm covered in bits of paint. It looks great.

I had that problem with my t-shirts for a while. But then I found out it was the bleach interacting with the residual deodorant. So I stopped using bleach on them and haven't had that problem anymore.

Hmmmm....

I have to hand wash my finches. They don't like the spin cycle.

If you put them all in a mesh bag then the feathers won't get all over everything else.
