The Hobbit Hole XXXII - Sweet is the sound of falling rain
The Freeper Hobbit Hole Blog ^ | December 1, 2006

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!

O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.

O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.

O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!

Heh...my b-i-l was telling this story last week. He said the first time he dropped the f-bomb in front of his mom was when he broke his collar bone at 14.

It was a pretty severe break and the bone was sticking out (skin wasn't broken, but you know what I mean). When they tried to move him, he said the word. His mom chastised him until she saw the bone.

At the hospital the nurse started to take off his t-shirt. Mom said "just cut it."

Nurse said "Are you sure? It's a nice shirt."

Mom said, "Cut the effing t-shirt."

B-i-l looked at Mom and said, "I think we're even."

When the nurse cut the shirt and saw how bad the injury was, she apologized.

Well, I went and bought an area rug for the living room:

'Course it doesn't match anything I have, but then that's my "style." :)

I thought it'd be nice to have something plush and padded suitable for sitting or stretching out on.

I'm thinking about getting a matching runner to put in front of the door behind the couch just so I won't track snow on my hardwood.

Don't get a matching one. Get one that coordinates with, but is not exact.

That's what them deezine shows will tell you.

Hmmmm....I could get the black version of the same design. That way, it would hide the dirt.

Do ya think those deezine shows would like my orange armchairs with the burgundy carpet?

Vey pretty! Well, it may not match anything now, but as you change things out, over the years, you can buy stuff to match the rug!

Well, orange and burgundy are good Virginia Tech colors. ;-)

Main thing they say is actually, don't have everything match like you buy it off the showroom floor.

Looks good, but the main question is "How does Miss Kitty like it?" LSA

I'm going to try rooting celery when it warms up here! I always feel so guilty throwing out celery, much more a problem in the summer than the winter when I use it in soups.

Nyaaah!!

The chairs (orange) were both inherited and the plan has always been to get coordinating covers for them. I'm somewhat lacking in execution, though. The couch is a pastel mauvish blue thing that stays coverec (except when company visits) 'cause it's easier to deal with the cat fur. I should get a cover for it too. It would look better than the blanket/ sheet/ bedspread that I use.

Oh look! They've got a webcast of the Orbitz 300 on at NASCAR.com.

I think she's trying to make up her mind. She's picked at it once with her claws, sat on it and looked around. So far she hasn't stretched out on it for a nap.

At least she'll walk on it. My sister has a floor mat that Mr. Darcy will not set paw on (and we can't figure out why.) He either jumps over it or walks around.

It will probably take Miss Kitty a while to get used to thenewrug, but she'll soon recognize it's advantages. That is odd about the floor mat and Mr. Darcy, wonder what he knows that the rest of you don't?? (cue Twilight Zone music) LSA

Whatever it is, it doesn't bother Miss Emily.

Maybe it's a guy-cat thing.
