The Hobbit Hole XXXII - Sweet is the sound of falling rain
The Freeper Hobbit Hole Blog ^ | December 1, 2006

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!

O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.

O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.

O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!

Speaking of low-carb friendly snacks, here's one I discovered on my own awhile back, completely by accident:
http://www.atkins.com/recipes/d/deep-fried-kale-299

I accidentally had the oil kinda hot when I was going to try stirfrying some kale, and it went all light and crispy. I've been making it that way once in awhile every since, and it turns out there's a recipe for it on the Atkins site! Kinda cracked me up. I don't bother with the way they have you slice the leaves...I just dry them and then tear them into smallish pieces.

Cooking it this way probably ruins any value the stuff has as far as vitamins go, but it's awful good.

I haven't even thought about leaving my apartment.

Smart man! Hope you stocked up on milk, bread, eggs and TP before the storm!

'scuse my language, but some sperm and egg donors are just morons.

Are they ever! It's worse when they just gush over how 'cute' their little girls are in their slut-wear.

I have my huge box of ramen, and 1/2 can of coffee, and the water supply has been good; I haven't had trouble with TP supply since I did it professionally.

The storm was a bit of a surprise to me.

Actually, the little feathered freeloaders do provide relatively cheap entertainment, especially if you can buy seed in bulk.

Not likely! I'm not sure what would happen noise wise, but I don't think it would notice the soda bottle too much.

You know, back in the 50's, when we were kids, we used to spend a lot of time in winter looking out the window at the bird feeder. Cardinals, especially, looked nice against a snowy landscape.

Couple years ago we were at the old home place in rural VA when an ice storm struck, no electricity for 3 days. No TV, no Nintendo operational, what a delight! OTOH, most of that part of the county got bombed every evening after about the first day.

Morning!

~sip~

Going to make some Brunswick stew today. Too bad I don't have dressed squirrel for it...guess I'll have to use beef instead.

Feeding the birds is something that LSA has done for years; we have an electric heater in one of the bird baths, the other birdbath resembles Snoopy's friend Woodstock hockey rink. Since the hawks have our front yard birdfeeder on their route, it doesn't get near the activity that it once did.

Well, a good air rifle and/or pistol and you'd be in the 'dressed squirrel' business over there. Hmmm, we do seem to have a few doves at the feeder today..

We like to watch our bird feeder... Of course, we like the squirrels most of all :~)

Good morning everyone!
