WELCOME RACE FANS

Welcome to the offseason withdrawal thread which is here for everyone to post racing news during the time between Nov 20, 2006 and Feb 10, 2007 when The Budweiser Shootout begins the new season.
As always this thread is dedicated to our military men and women serving our country. A big thank you to all of them. Hugs and prayers to those who have been wounded and are recuperating at Walter Reed, Bethesda and Brooke Army Med Center. And, to those combat field medics who care for them - THANK YOU!!

France has decided that NASCAR races should be run on cookie-cutter race tracks, with cardboard cut-out drivers from Hollywood central casting. Cardboard cut-out cars, too.

Update on Benny Parsons...
Benny Parsons Battling Lung Damage, Breathing Difficulty UPDATE: Benny Parsons is dealing with a complication stemming from his battle with cancer earlier this year. Parsons missed NASCARs postseason activities in New York after having breathing difficulty. His doctors performed a scan of Parsons entire body and found no cancer. However, the original tumor found in his left lung was large and the radiation used to treat it was so extensive that the lung is now damaged and not functioning properly. Parsons right lung is healthy and strong, and doctors believe Parsons body will eventually adjust to having just one healthy lung. But until then, the former Winston Cup Series champion driver will need to use oxygen to assist his breathing.(Charlotte Observer)(12-15-2006)
UPDATE: The lung specialist put Benny in CMC the day after Christmas with blood clots in the right lung and behind his right knee. They have Parsons on complete bed rest and will not allow him to get up at all and Parsons will be at CMC from 5 to 7 days. The doctor has started Parsons on blood thinners to dissolve the clots, which were caused from the aggressive radiation from treating the lung cancer [is still cancer free], to email Benny, go to BennyParsons.com or goprn.com.(12-30-2006)

I abandoned my New Years watch post at 11:30 last night. That's 60 minutes longer than last year.
In my best Texas impersonation...HAPPY NEW YEAR Y'ALL!!!

We went to a hockey game last night, seems to be an annual thing now. Got home right before midnight and that's the only reason I made it. :)
