If Tom can't pull this one out (and the votes have been trending Democratic during the past couple of hours), then today's election will officially be bad.

Voter turnout Riverside county: 8.8%, Orange County: 17.3%, Ventura County 6.7%.

The election's bad, Tom probably won't win, and it's because California's Republican Party has succeeded in making the state's Republicans have no reason to bother going to the polls.

If Republicans did not want to go to polls with 85, 86 and 87 on the Ballot, I have no idea what will make them go.

For California Governor? :-)

If you are talking about Presidential election in 2008, then forget it. He does not have a prayer of winning.

Also, I have a rather big suspicion that he has a ton hiding in the closet. Oppo research will have a field day.

Fiscal Conservatism with Social Liberalism seems to win the day.

I'm an evangelical Christian who is conservative in practially every single social issue. Yet, I feel sometimes we were pushing the evangelical side too hard but rather neglecting the fiscal conservatism side...

He's not only in a squeaker, but there's a huge portion of the Los Angeles pro-dem vote that hasn't been counted yet. I think Tom's bought it, and I'm worried about McPherson.

Parental notification - right, go out, vote, have it overturned by the courts. New taxes? California usually doesn't go for that, and the polls said so well before the election.

Had Tom actually run for the Senate? The opportunity to actually turn out Feinstein? There's something that would have brought out voters.

Uhh, I hate to say it, but if it holds, Tom will BARELY beat Garamendi for Lt. Governor. You are insane if you think a tiny win over Garamendi would translate to a victory over Feinstein.

Did you bother to read the turnout numbers I quoted? Less than ten percent in Tom's old district? Less than ten percent in Riverside? Just over ten percent in San Bernardino and the 'shining example' Orange County couldn't muster 18 percent.

Yeah, I think Tom could have made it a real race against Feinstein, and changed the tide for a lot of other races.

Tom rightly calculated the Lt. Gov. is his best bet.

Diane was unbeatable. Against Boxer, it would have been a better bet.

Least I voted, better than you can say for 65% of the registered Republicans in the state.

In California, as expected, the combination of Fiscal Conservatism with Social Liberalism seems to win the day.

Who are you talking about? Schwarzenegger is social moderate and a fiscal liberal?

Have you seen anti-Jerry Brown ads on TV? I have not seen them. However, I have seen the Brown ads attacking Poochigian. The ad did show a SF cop telling viewers that Poochigian did not vote to ban a 50-caliber bullet...

It would have been interesting if there were anti-Brown ads attacking him on death penalty...

I am wondering if Jerry Brown will lead a crusade against death penalty as the attorney general...Let's face it. Brown is an attorney general that ACLU would approve...

CA voters rejecting the parental notification of minor abortions...Very disappointing. I mean the abortionist just has to notify the parent...That's it. The abortionist doesn't not need to get the parental consent.
CA voters cannot even support a modest measure like this...
I guess the CA voters probably would not even support banning "partial birth abortion".

Not anymore as of 11:58. NOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!

Also, I read that a greater portion of Republicans chose to vote absentee than demoRats, so I suspect more of the Republican votes have been counted compared to the rats. I'm still hoping that McClintock can pull out a win, but if most Republican votes have already been counted...
