The Official Friday Silliness Thread Salutes Our Favorite TV/Movie Cartoons
Self & IMDB.com ^ | October 20, 2006 | Sully777

Posted on 10/20/2006 1:06:01 AM PDT by sully777

It's Friday and time for one of my favorite TV cartoons, Bugs Bunny's "Little Red Riding Rabbit." Sing along with Red as she skips towards Grandma's housefrom the cartoon:

The five o'clock whistle's on the blink/the whistle don't blow so whattaya think/my papa still works in the factory/ cuz he doesn't know what TIME...it happens to BE...

Nothing sweeps away the blues better than a good cartoon. Whether it is the manic humor of Tex Avery, the societal humor of South Park and The Simpsons, or the computer generated quirkiness of Jimmy Neutron, life seems to get better after ten minutes watching TV cartoons.

What are your favorites cartoons? What cartoons do you despise? And when will the Wile E. Coyote (super genius) ever catch the Road Runner? Don't be shy Post your photos and theme songs you recall from your childhood memories.

Have a great Friday and a great weekend!

No rocks! Poor Charlie Brown... He is so misunderstood!

(We didn't get Dolly Madison cakes too often either... not in the budget!)

My son put a big Welcome Great Pumpkin sign in the front yard last year for Halloween!!!

That truly is my favorite!!!

Hark the Herald Angels sing... Glory to the newborn King!

(Or as my son sang when he was about 3... "Glory to the Oooo Aaaaaah Eeeeeee")

Did he send the letter, too?

You can't beat Linus, "Lights please?"

And all the kids boogie-ing to the beat!

Since he was 17, no, he didn't send the letter... just put up the sign.

Though, I am sure at one point he might have wanted to send the letter...

True... My sons were in You're a Good Man Charlie Brown and all the kids imitated those dances in the end. My personal favorites are the head swaying twins and the Frankenstein boogie.

Okay, tell him I'll let it go then. ;)

Aren't those Peanuts specials great? I mean, we've been watching them every year, year after year and STILL, it's just not Halloween or Christmas without them. :)

Very true... they are timeless! Part of our childhood and our children's. They have held the test of time!

Now here is something that IS NOT a classic, nor is it my favorite (in fact, I hate it!!!) But my sons like it... UCK! I tell them they lose brain cells every time they watch it. (Which thankfully, is only when they go to their friends' house since we have no cable TV)

I and my wife feel the same about Power Rangers and Ninja Turtles. The jury is still out on Dragonball......

I didn't let my oldest son watch Ninja Turtles... something at 21 he still likes to tweak me for...since so many of his friends watched them. I just can't cotton to them watching brain junk food. I remember when I first saw the Ninja Turtle toys in the store(before the cartoon), thinking "How stupid is this??? These will never catch on.".. Well, I guess they did, but I am glad to say that they never caught on in my house! :)

We never did Power Rangers either... same reason.

Speed Racer was also my favorite. Remember Speed's girlfriends name? And his little brother, Sprittle. Trixy, Sprittle and Chim Chim and last but not least RacerX.

C'mon, the classic cartoons are never on. And that is because they are not politically correct.
