It's not like he's been working for free to this point. They gotta do what they gotta do, and I'm sure Joe's shoes won't hit concrete on the way to the airport.

Randolph will get it. Girardi will have to Lewinski every major sportswriter in the U.S. to get an award he doesn't deserve.

Under .500 managers deserve to get fired.

Being well into my 60s, I remember baseball when it was “the” sport. And a great sport it was back then. Now it just seems not so much a sport as much as it is just a moneymaking machine … baseball is circling the drain and soon to be only a memory, something talked about in history classes.

A-Rod is not gay. He just dresses like one (and whines like one!).

Despite his years and success in the game and the current facts, why don't you just tell us why you're so bitter about Girardi that you're the only one on this thread I've seen compelled to resort to vulgarity .. and pretty filthy at that? Maybe then we can take your comments in proper perspective for you.

Did he accidentally step on your foot or something?

Nah. The terrible Mariners drew over two million this year. No other sport could play over the summer and keep the American cultural zeitgeist. It's our game, and comparisons, say, between father and son over Koufax and Johnson will only end when the Republic does.

Not before then. Buck up, camper!

76 000 000 tickets sold say otherwise.

Current facts is that his team finished under .500. He was a "low performer" who should be managing A-Ball.

All the Yankee fans and Girardi groupies (often one and the same) who love the guy (including the local house organ of the NY Yankees, the NY Post) are living in fantasy land.

Besides, the greatest manager in baseball for 2006 is an ex-Yankee anyway.

Girardi is the Barack Obama of baseball: much ado about nothing!

It will always live, even as we whither in our mortal coils.

Say, sounds like you could use a fun diversion: here you go - I prefer managing the 1954 Milwaukee Braves, myself. It's uncanny how they perform.

Damned straight, FRiend: replay seasons, mix and make up your own teams - hours upon hours of unproductive time can be wasted and saved to your PC.

Every game is a Day Game on Grass, without the DH, at least in my own little view of the world. That's what makes us conservatives.

There should now be an APBA/SOM ping list, sort of like the War on Drugs threads.

I'm replaying 1967 (the year I was born): Claude Osteen had 12 complete games.

See? Baseball is oxygen to America's bloodstream!

Why don't they just change their name to Mariners? They've got every player we ever had that was worth anything, and now Lou.

Those were the good ole days. The Yankees could not win in the Kingdome (King Doom) if their life depended on it and you could feel the noise deep in your gut in that place.

Sigh!

Interesting. Since it appears that as of week 27 the Marlins had a better W/L than 7 other major league teams, with allegedly the lowest budget in baseball, seems like you've just got some personal bias.

If I might ask, where did you get your game schedules?
